Israel and Hamas Close to Long-Term Cease Fire

You use syllogistic reasoning. Because you are insufferable and because I remind everybody about you and your tactics I therefore am old and bitter and respect brutal terrorists. And though it's not true, you saying untrue things about me and others telling you they're untrue things about me does not stop you from slapping on your blinders and doubling-down on falsehoods.

YOU have a serious thinking problem, LH.

I wasn't even talking about, or to, you. Sorry I didn't make the clearer.

Regarding the falsehoods of this particular topic, though... If you wish to legitimize the violent Islamic Jihad through your recognition of it as an organized religion, as YWIW was suggesting, you are no better than the jihadists who rape, bury, torture, stone, and behead innocent civilians.

I was informing people that you, with your syllogistic reasoning, are a waste of time to engage with.

And when have YOU, of all posters, ever waited until somebody engaged with you to chime in? WHEN exactly? How many times did you post incorrect initials in threads I was engaged in because you thought it would shut me up?

You're not only a fraud, you are a delusional fraud.

Reading is fundamental. Suspect is not the same as respect. I know it has the same four letters, but the first two make a big difference. Maybe your dictionary needs some help.

...because you thought it would shut me up?

When was it ever explicitly stated, or even implied for that matter, that my purpose was to shut you up?! Far from it. On the contrary, it was to encourage your continued babbling and promote a lively spirited discussion.

Well, he DOES use the dictionary that recently decided "literally" means "figuratively".

Oh yeah, Hercule Poirot. Your post, "Your employer might be interested in some of the things you posted. Just sayin'" wasn't meant to imply any threat to some poor other guy's livelihood.

I have a feeling it confused a listing of antonyms with a dictionary. Or, opposite day never ended.

Exactly. Every day's Opposite Day when Bizarro World Liza's Headband re-surfaces.

I should have complained to BWW about his tactics instead of letting him hoist himself on his own petard. Then at least he'd be banned.

Actually engaging directly with LH means we're breaking our own rule of not talking with terrorists.

Hamas just brazenly breached the cease fire, by over two hours, with a rocket strike. What a shock! And here I thought we could trust these terrorists to actually consider a peaceful co-existence. Oops...

Good grief people. Anyway, in defense of the pessimists, I question whether anyone with Hamas can even speak for the group since they are not a government. On the other hand, no two parties hate one another more than Israel and Egypt and their peace has held for decades.

Maybe if there is a short term peace with some relaxation at the borders people will get use to it and choose to be more temperate. Just saying.

Hey, dumbass. I was being sarcastic. Just tapping into the naive and, thusly, dangerous optimism paraded around by many in this thread. Terrorists do not wish for peace or prayer or calm. They wish for death, destruction, and control.

dented, my hope is that Hamas unilaterally breaks the ceasefire, it will change the course of public opinion, and hopefully, help get them eventually be removed as a purported representative of the Palestinian people. It may be a long shot.

Who's the dumbass? ONLY YOU reach the conclusions you swear you see in other people's posts. And then you rail against them. The whole argument is in your own empty head.

It's similar to the way you insisted on seeing a college professor behind my posts that wasn't there. And then started fighting with him.

You're not particularly good at anything you do here, Miss Marple.

I've read Miss Marple. I know Miss Marple. And you are no Miss Marple. You're not even Harriet the Spy. And your political diatribes are even worse than your deductive reasoning skills.

"Terrorists do not wish for peace or prayer or calm. They wish for death, destruction, and control."

I think you said that a few times already, no?

Anyway, the point is that WE wish for peace there. However it has to happen, it's a wish we have. I think people the world over wish for that. So stop saying what THEY want, we are saying what WE want. Simple little point.

Perhaps a small sign of progress in Gaza. Interesting read from the Washington Post.

Wouldn't it be loverly. When Israel and Egypt signed their accord in 1979 I thought it was a joke. Those two countries truly hated each other. But two war weary leaders,( leaders with a capital L) said "enough".

The differences today are obvious: Hamas does not have a strong leader speaking for all the Palestinians and this conflict is also about religious extremism.

Still, with time for both sides to develop a sense of trust maybe something good can happen. I was very wrong in 1979. I think it is almost a certainty that something will cause some nut case to start hostilities. I would love to be wrong again.

Sounds a lot like you, LH. Maybe you project your own destructiveness onto Hamas.
"It's now rather very common to hear people say 'I'm rather offended by that'. As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more than a whine. It has no meaning, no purpose. It has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that'. Well, so f**king what?"--Stephen Fry
