I think you make more money with auctions with low starting prices, although you won't know how much until the last few seconds, when people enter crazy amounts to outbid each other. I sold 100+ Broadway magnets on there recently, all with a $0.99 starting price and some went for $35, $45, $55... way more than any of them were worth, and only because of sniping. It looked like the auction was going to be a failure until right before it ended...
If you're concerned, you can always add a reserve price to make sure if sells for a certain minimum amount (although then you'll get a ton of e-mails asking what the reserve is set at).
I think it is harder to get someone to pay a high price outright, but whatever works.
I agree. Also a tip: If you live in the city you should take it to "You Can't Take It With You" and try to add Annaleigh to the signatures. She has a CRAZY fan base that would pay top dollar for this poster. I would buy it but I already have one (signed by Derek, Lindsay, and Annaleigh).
Well, it is a better strategy when you have it listed for an entire week. You want it to have time to get bidders, but more importantly watchers. The watchers are the crazy ones who will be back later for the bidding frenzy.
I hate to say it, but maybe nobody wants it. If it was signed by the full cast, I'd say that $60 would be a good price for it, but only signed by two people, it's just not worth much. If either of them gets to be ridiculously famous, that price might go up to $75 but I doubt it ever will....
You have a bid for $30 on it. You should just take that.
How can some crummy OLD poster signed by some woman named Gertrude possibly be worth more than a Dogfight poster. I mean it's DOGFIGHT for God's sake.
By the way I hope gleek is right about "One mans trash is another's treasure". I just polished off a container of Ben $ Jerry's. What are my bids for the empty container. I'll even wash it.
Your reserve for the poster is at a $100! You will never get it for that much. Just like other people are saying, maybe $60. But $100 for a poster signed by two people and looks a little damaged, no way.
