There's already a uproar about Tumblr about them not casting real whores...

can we say flop?
A Chorus Line played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013.

This announcement literally comes out of thin air. No one saw this coming.

I was just about to see what everyone was thinking regarding the casting.

Any guesses for Mona? Thorpe?

I heard something about this about two months ago. They were courting a Tony-winner (and also perennial Emmy nominee) for this. Not sure if that deal was closed.

Brooks Ashkemenkahsdfh would be a great Thorpe.

Saw the original and the sequel (guilty pleasure).

I'd like to see Reba McEntire as Miss Mona.

If he could control his crazy, Alec Baldwin as Sheriff Dodd

Jefferson Mays as Melvin Thorpe

Lillias White as Jewel

Lee Wilkof as the Governor

Leigh Ann Larkin as Doatsey Mae

Baldwin controlling his crazy? Surely you jest.

The only person I can think of who's a multiple Emmy nominee and Tony-winner who's remotely right for this part is Jane Krakowski. Other tv/theatre people I can think of (Like Megan Mullally) aren't Tony winners or are too old (Tyne Daly).

I would love to see Krakowski as Mona.

Too sexy for Mona. Mona shouldn't be better looking than the girls.

Sounds like Angela Lansbury!

And there you have it. But I really don't know where they were at in the process, so that might have fallen through.

And let's remember that Miss Mona is not a dinosaur. She's really a woman in her late 30's (if we go by Carlin Glynn and Dolly Parton).

I wonder if, like Grease, they'll make this production resemble the movie more than the stage piece. It seems like something Ashford might do. It would make me sad.

I don't think they can afford to license "I Will Always Love You." Dolly charges big bucks for that song.

I wonder if this will even make it to Broadway. It just seems so random.

It's had major productions since the film that didn't tinker with the material too much; it would certainly be ill-advised to remove those character songs like "Doatsy Mae" and "Twenty Four Hours of Loving."

I will say, though, that "The Aggie Song" is actually a perfect match for Rob Ashford's athletic choreography style.
