Do they consider the sets and costumes (which should be about 75% re-usable) in the Broadway Investment?

The sets and costumes were built for a limited run at the Kennedy Center. Most of them, if not all, will have to be repaired or totally remade to stand up to an open ended run. Also, they probably need additional understudies or swings on Broadway, which means more costumes.

Usually, in situations like these, only the new costs to create additional pieces or refurbish the old ones in counted in the budget. They do not include the money that was already spent by Kennedy Center on the existing sets and costumes.

Actually, the sets and costumes were built for La Jolla and Kennedy Center; so the sets were designed to be durable for shipping across country.

Does anyone think there will be a new cast recording?

I would bet there will be a new cast recording, but no announcement will come, I would guess, until performances have started. I would think this is likely for Ghostlight unless Sony still holds some right of first refusal since they released the original back in 1997.

What the what is with that artwork? Is the show being re-imagined to take place in an Atlanta ball room competition?

Saw the original. Have the c d (which should have been a double set). I will get a new cast album if one gets done and will compare the 2 cd's to see the difference in the score.

The poster looks fine and it seems to be selling Bill Condon's name on it.

I see PS Classics recording it as a 2-disc album and include some of the dialogue since its been reworked. Their recordings of FOLLIES, PORGY & BESS, and VIOLET are among my favorites. I would love that!

I would be interested in going to NYC in December to see this. BTW, does it snow in Dec.?

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

So happy there is some producers out there with balls and are reviving something they are passionate about. This is one of those shows that many people claim to have seen during its original run. Just like West Side Story. Most of those people are full of it. But I did. I saw this 3 times during its run. I remember how the actors playing some of the freaks would work the tkts booth every day promoting their show. And during its final week there was this huge "Save Sideshow" campaign. I remember thinking both male leads were weak and flattened out the love entanglements. I still play "You should be loved" constantly on my iPod.

If audiences stay away again, will the St. James be available for The Visit?

Oh no, if audiences stay away, the St. James will be saved for Heathers.

I think it s toss up whether or not they will close the balcony. While it may help them fill the house otherwise, those seats may be good in the case of a show like this. I haven't seen this production, so correct me if I'm wrongly thinking, but this show, like Barnum and Pippin, seems to come off better when you can see the whole picture. The balcony seats may offer a clear view of the whole stage and make it easier to take it in as a whole.

I am thrilled with this news.

This is an amazing and truly spectacular production that absolutely deserves this transfer. My congratulations to all involved.

I am guessing that the upper balcony of the St James will be closed off for Side Show. I hate sitting up there and I think it just makes more sense to focus on selling the orchestra and mezzanine. And, unless I am mistaken, I believe this also lowers the rental costs. I am sure that Mr Roth, who wanted this show at the St James, has made it as economically attractive as possible -- note that Jujamcyn Theatres are listed amongst producers of the show.

Nice to see 2 posters already have it closing (even before it opens)so Heathers or The Visit can go in

When I still attended, I thought Heathers was god awful. Would love to have seen the full production of The Visit but even if I was attending I would not pay to see a production cut by an hour and losing all the songs contained therein.

Will they still be singing "I Will Never Leave You", because if so, I will once again be rolling in the aisle laughing.

I like a lot of the score, but come ON! Let FORBIDDEN BROADWAY do its own numbers.

There's also that creepy sex-in-the-tunnel-of-love sequence: the less about it the better.

***

FANatic, New York is cold but lovely in December. Much of the city is lit up for Christmas and everybody seems to be in a good mood. (Or least that's how it was when I lived there.)

***

Sutton Ross, I didn't think it was a perfect show, obviously, but I agree it is worth seeing.

Dear Mr.Roxy,
Just stop. You may be one of the most annoying poster on the board. We all know that you are still bitter that Rocky closed and that you hate Broadway now. You are just as awful as the people you despise.

Wickedlover, it's from YOU, not everyone on this board, you delusional twit.
I've had my issues with Roxy as well but don't act like you speak for the entire board. That makes you nothing but a complete asshole.

I think you know what you can do.

I do not give a crap about Rocky or Bullets or anything else. The 2 posters I mentioned love Broadway so much they are already fantasizing on a show that has not even opened so 2 other shows might come in. This is real love of Broadway. If people did not complain on this board, BWW would be an awfully lonely place.

It is sad that after 60 years of theatergoing I no longer care. This should get people thinking. People complain about prices, rude audiences, rude ushers etc. You do not mention this but just little old me. I should feel honored.
