I haven't heard anything about Bed Bugs in the news in quite awhile. It was a real epidemic 2 years ago. I had them twice in one year and had to move because the apartment building I was living in was infested. I hope this isn't the start of a new surge.

Oh GOD. I've been fortunate enough not to experience this yet. Though nowhere on the level of that massive infestation in NY a couple years back, there was a pretty bad one in LA two years ago. I had several friends who experienced it. One of them ended up throwing away thousands of dollars of personal belongings. Apparently the only truly effective treatment is the high-temp heat treatment.

There are some others, but we're not allowed to use them. My grandparents lived in NYC during WWII. Grandpa was an MP and would bring home stuff from the Army (we assume it was something DDT based) and line the baseboards of their apartment with it. Grandma said they never saw a roach or a bedbug in their apartment the entire time they lived there.

A few followed me to my new apartment but I purchased a industrial home steamer and steamed the hell out of my mattress, box spring and wood slats and put down some diatomaceous earth under the bed, around the bed frame and base boards. I haven't had a problem since. It's been 2 years.
