My brother currently owns an old flip-phone that neatly fits into his pants pockets. But I've been thinking of getting him a new smartphone (probably a Samsung Galaxy), but I've been wondering where he's going to put it. I'm not too worried about when it gets colder, because he can put on a jacket and I suppose the phone will fit in his jacket pockets. But where does a man put a smartphone in the summer?

He does not own cargo pants. I've been kidding him that he needs a fanny pack, LOL, but he won't have anything to do with that. (He's in his early sixties.) I should add that he is trim and wears slim-style jeans.

I have a Samsung Note II and I usually carry a backpack and it goes in there. If I don't have a backpack, it goes into jeans pockets (either front or back, depending on what I'm doing).

I know fanny packs are SO early 90s, but boy, they were handy. At least now we have murses to go with our sklimmy (slimmer than skinny) jeans, so for gays and yipsters (yuppie hipsters) it's all good.

They should invent a heavy chain to wear phablets like a medallion. I'd have mine flashing "NAMEY NAMEY NAMEY" at all times.

Surprisingly, fanny packs are making a come back. Mostly with the hipster crowd where every thing is back to the 90s. The amount of fanny packs at Lolla this year were insane. Probably to store all the drugs, but still.

I have the iPhone 5s and that is much smaller than most smart phones and fits in my pocket comfortably. (Unless I have the juice pack case on it)

If I just need my wallet, keys and phone, it all fits in pockets. If I have anything else to carry, I go with the messenger bag/murse. In my case, the J. Peterman "Counterfeit Mail Pouch."

I guess it's heretical to suggest you don't need to carry your phone everywhere.
No good can possibly come from using this vast wasteland of error and deliberate deceit. You should get off of it and warn others away. You should make sure your children and grandchildren know what a corrupt and morally bankrupt institution it truly is.

We've known that about you for a loooong time, Matt.

I never carry my phone in my bag...I don't know why, but it just doesn't feel secure enough for me. If I'm going for a night on the town, I take my keys and my iphone, which is in a Hex case that acts as a wallet. It's ever so helpful.

There is a new streamlined version of the fannypack that expands. I use one at the beach.

I haven't worked out the answer to this one either.

I hate carrying wallet/mobile/keys/sun gigs in my trousers or jeans as there's enough in there already.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I think most dudes just put it in their back pocket or their jacket pocket. But, if he wants to be super trendy tell him to get a belt bag, which aren't lame like fanny packs but are just as convenient.

I really love my Hex case...though I do need a new one. The Icon series has three card holders plus a place to put cash. It makes a Saturday night ever so much more fun!
