I wish him luck but it will be tough for him to replace Craig.

Craig's last show is 12/19.

Phew! All that Aisha Tyler talk had me worried it wouldn't be. Just. Another. White. Dude.

Yeah, but now that I've thought about it Aisha Tyler would make an amazing Pseudolus.
Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

I was more worried that Chelsea Handler would replace Ferguson. Her name was in the rumor mill for a while. Very happy with this!!

No one knows the real reason why he quit Late Late Show.

We can only hope he will return soon with Secretariat and Geoff to either another talk show or in some other capacity. I gave up on Lettermen years ago but Craig is genuinly funny and edgy.

Oh boooo! I was hoping James would continue doing theater and tv. Any no talent hack can host a talk show. James is too talented for a talk show.

Jesus Christ. He quit the Late Late Show because he was promised 11:30 and CBS broke the promise.

Well this is an interesting development. First The Baker, and now this? I'll wait and see before I make a judgement.

Roxy... before you embarrass yourself, "any no talent hack can host a talk show" doesn't necessarily translate to "every talk show host in history, great or small, has been a no talent hack."

Is this confirmed yet, or just a rumour? Is James Corden really that well known to host a talk show?

^^

Craig Ferguson and Conan O'Brien were arguably less-known. Craig had been a supporting actor on THE DREW CAREY SHOW, which between these three men might be the highest-profile gig. Conan was hired after being a staff writer for a number of shows, most notably for THE SIMPSONS.

This is really a wrong move. James will win his Oscar on February 22, 2015 and he'll be in high demand, but stuck with a silly talk show. Who is advising him? Looking on the bright side, maybe the talk show can get him an Emmy and he'll have 3/4 of the EGOT done.

It's unheard of!

There was this one lady who hosted a talk show in her local area. Then she made this high-profile movie and got an Oscar nomination for it. Her talk show went national right after that.

I wonder how it worked out for her.

I'm sure he'll be great. He seems to be great at everything he does.

Which is spooky, when you think about it.

I am sure James Cordens' advisers and agents are far more qualified than Goth. I mean, they have to be.

Enough said. Good for James Corden, can't wait to watch him every night.

From what I read, Craig's ratings were really bad. Maybe he quit before he was cancelled. The bar for Corden will be low and any thing he can do to improve them is a plus for CBS. If they go lower watch out.

I am taping the first 3 sections of his show (minus commercials) and putting them on DVD to ease the pain after he is off. The guest he has are generally 2 nd tier and I usually turn it off after the first 3 bits.

He would have been great taking over for Letterman but his humor might have been lost there

I do wish Corden all the luck in the world.

Ferguson has had steady ratings for the past 5 years, even with the hosting shifts at NBC. When he made the announcement on his show back in June, he simply said it was time to move on and he didn't what the show to get stale & boring. Ferguson already has a new gig lined-up, he'll be hosting a new syndicated game show called "Celebrity Name Game", set to debut in the Fall.
