If the opera star/Marie rumor is true, I think it's great. This would be an excellent way to introduce people to opera or open people's eyes about how opera "isn't just people who are loud and sing in Italian" (as said to me by a 7th grader this past school year).

I know her acting experience is limited, but I think someone like Renee Fleming could prove popular in a role like Marie. Also because I love Renee Fleming.

I think I'll pass as long as Shepherd's in the show.
A Chorus Line played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013.

She either "knows" someone involved with the show or the producers WANT it to close. Can't imagine any other reason for casting her. The well can't be that dry.

Just to be clear:

They're changing the color of the wigs right?

If the producers "want it to close", as postulated by Lucious, then why would they have cast KeKe Palmer which met with virtual unanimous praise on this board just a day earlier. What a stupid comment. (Note, the COMMENT is stupid, not the person who posted it)

And let's wait to see who they cast as Crazy Marie.

I can only assume she was typecast for being evil. Very disappointing news.

Don't worry, I'm guessing once she realizes there are gay audience members and people in the cast she'll leave.

I'm hoping there won't be any gay audience members.

@Showface

Why would they change the color?

Because I cant really imagine Sherri Shepered sporting that red wig!
I was thinking they may change it to fit their natural hair colors.

Edit: But, as I keep thinking, they may not have to change the wig color for the Stepmom. Who said she had to look normal? But for Keke, they may have to change it to fit her natural hair color. It's just what I think.

Point of order...the stepmother is wicked, not evil.

Sherri Shepherd might have some little costume changes but not to drastic like Fran Drescher's time as Madame.

I have know many Christian people who spew the most hateful ideas looking righteous at the same time. This is NOT going to get them into Heaven-there is no such place[my belief]. Knowing from what I have read about this person there would be no way I could watch her 'act' as her beliefs are always there and would take center stage-the audience pelted rotten tomatoes in the good old days for a reason.

Even if there is a Heaven, that is not how the Bible says to get there. Idiots.

I'll bring the tomatoes.

She's gonna need all new costumes and should have fun with William.

So, Sherri was offered to be the Stepmother after Fran, but had to reject the part due to time constrains

So happy for Sherri that she gets to act in her favorite historical drama.
"It's now rather very common to hear people say 'I'm rather offended by that'. As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more than a whine. It has no meaning, no purpose. It has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that'. Well, so f**king what?"--Stephen Fry

I'm gay as well and have by no means had it easy, but Sherri's views don't bother me. I don't care enough about what she thinks to move into hostility.

I should still see CINDERELLA dispite everyone's feelings on Sherri's beliefs, which shouldn't be judged whenever seeing a show on Broadway or not.

I'm not directly affected by her beliefs, although they are dumb. I'm affected by her stupidity which shows on her face no matter what she's doing.

That's a great view to have, I don't agree with her views, but as long as she is respectful, there should be no issue.

Are you kidding? I'm never paying money for a show with the likes of her or Patty Heaton. It's called being a conscious consumer.
