I've never seen "Girls," but I've heard that she is very good on it, and the videos of her singing sound more than capable, but I have to wonder if she would have had a shot at the role if any network other than NBC was doing the show. I would guess having her father as one of the faces of NBC didn't hurt the casting process.

Perhaps the angle is that the kids will want to watch because it's Peter Pan. I know my 23 year-old daughter, who would not have watched otherwise, will be watching now.

South Fl Marc, the role was written for a woman (not girl) to play. I think you would have seen a much bigger uproar from theatre folk had they tried to cast a young man/teen boy in the role. I am very glad they cast a woman, I just think the selection was a little odd.

With all due respect, Kristen Bell did not turn down the role. She has stated that she would have accepted the offer, but unfortunately, her work schedule wouldn't permit her the time commitment the producers of PETER PAN required for pre-production.

Brody, I apologize, the essence of my question was not that she turned it down, rather that Allison wasn't the first choice. I hadn't heard that she said she would have accepted it, I had thought she had to decline early on in the process because of scheduling concerns.

Either way, my point remains, I wonder if there were people approached in between Kristen and Allison. We will probably never know, but that is quite a jump down in star power.

Again, I am in no way saying that Allison won't be great, but on the heels of a mega-star like Carrie Underwood starring last year, Kristen would have made sense. Allison seems completely out of leftfield.

I'd heard that rumor too, even before she was announced for "Hair," but never saw it confirmed, so I just assumed it wasn't true. That obviously would have been a major issue in playing Peter.

I have no idea who she is.

I checked out the ratings for HBO's "Girls." They're under a million viewers per episode, sometimes way under. I hope she can draw an audience.
