I'm not sure where everyone is receiving the authority to rule that Heaters is closing re: bad ticket sales? It's been rumored and in-talks from the beginning that the show has plans to end up on Broadway. I'm not saying it's happening, but wouldn't it be a shock after the unexplained departure of their lead and slow loss of a bunch others as the show entered its final weeks? Makes for some good press if they all returned for a big, reboot of the show.

Because 75% of the time, shows close because of bad ticket sales? (The other 25% being Disney/limited runs)

If a show that was produced as an open-ended run (which Heathers was), is going to transfer they would make sure that everyone knew about it before they closed. For a transfer to actually work you need to capitalize on great buzz and word of mouth. If your closing Off-Broadway is seen as "premature" (which I would say is the general perception in the industry) and cast members were abandoning the production even before the closing that is not really the kind of word of mouth you can use to convince investors to put in the further capitalization you would need to move the show to Broadway.

#1CarrieFan, based solely on the PR material when it was announced, AN AMERICAN IN PARIS looks like they're aiming to be a new musical and not a revival. All the stories I saw mentioned it would be a "new" musical adaptation, thus falling closer to THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE or XANADU than the Revivals we've seen that fall under the Classics rule.

Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

I've heard a rumor that the creative team of Heathers wants to bring in a new director to actually DIRECT the production and remount it somewhere, not necessarily Broadway. Not sure how credible my source is though.

Anyone have any inside info on which house Fun Home is hoping to go into?

I think Heathers is a great show. I think that production was just terrible. The set, the lighting, the direction. Just terrible. Decent cast, but I don't think that was THE cast. But it could work for sure. The score is quite good.

@gstrus2 last I heard they were looking at Circle in the Square for Fun Home after The River.

I'm happy that this thread is attracting attention. I also have heard that a possible theater for Fun Home to set up in would be CIR but what about the John Golden? After the interesting reviews from Variety and the BG has anyone heard of intentions to have Chita return in The Visit? The Visit could also be interested in The Golden or CIR. I've had numerous people talking about Neverland going into the WG but that still seems like the Marquis is just hanging out there empty after their big (I would imagine expensive) renovation. The people who are discussing Bodyguard, did you actually see the show or hear the OCR? I haven't heard the music but would be curious what people think. What about Once, is that going to make it through the holidays? (because that would open up that house)

The Visit, even in its slimmed down Doyle version, seems too big for the Golden.

Fun Home has a home.

Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

If I was up to me, I would put FUN HOME in the Booth (preferably the Booth, but maybe even the Golden), and Finding Neverland in the Nederlander or the Longacre, both just in time for the Tonys.

I would love to see Fun Home take the Booth, I feel like it could have a great atmosphere there.

I have a feeling Heathers is going to find a home, even if it's not on this list.

I could also see Heathers slipping into the Golden or the Cort or perhaps the Booth (though I think Fun Home would be VERY happy and healthy there.
IF I RAN BROADWAY (Haha)
Heathers--Golden
Finding Neverland--Nederlander
Fun Home--Booth

Honestly, if Heathers wanted a shot at Broadway it would be smarter for the creatives to follow the route Next to Normal took and do the work they need to do on it out of town. Fix the problems in a regional setting and then bring the show in. It's the best way to find out if the problems were truly the fault of the direction/production (as some here have claimed) or if it is an inherent problem with the writing, rather than opening and potentially flopping even harder on Broadway than they did Off-Broadway.

So, as rumored, Fun Home is going into Circle in the Square (as per the Times).

Larry David is going into a Shubert house, of which there are plenty available.

Best Little Whorehouse is also looking for a house.

Any one have any other updates? This is beginning to get interesting.

In other news, according to Jen Tepper there are rumors that the Mark Hellinger is coming back as a theatre. Won't be ready for this season most likely.

DAMES AT SEA is still planning to open in the spring. maybe the Longacre??

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

Forum is going into the nederlander. I'm almost positive on that one. Finding neverland will most likely go into the winter garden which still leaves dames at sea without a home. I heard from a reliable source that it is still trying to come for this season so maybe the marquis but that's probably to big for it so maybe one of the smaller houses as they become available throughout the season. I also doubt hunchback or miss saigon will be coming in this season but more than likely for next season. There are also some shows that could easily sneak in this season that nobody has really been talking about like broadway bound can-can which is playing the papermill in October. Don't forget about The visit it the unsinkable Molly brown!

The Palace will remain dark until An American in Paris next spring except during the holidays when there will be either isolated concerts or a six-week run of A Christmas Carol if the right name talent can be secured.

Call me crazy, but Heathers might be transferring, or at least that is the creative team's goal as of right now. At the final show Andy Fickman did not confirm, but heavily suggested to keep the word alive on twitter and facebook. And on the twitter account they sometimes retweet things mentioning a broadway transfer, and their bio says "What's next?" and their location is "Stay Tuned...". If not a broadway transfer, they are really making it seem like one.

DAMES AT SEA should be looking at smaller theaters. The Booth or the Jacobs(if Once closes) would be ideal for this show.
