One bright spot on the Mets has been Jacob De Grom. He is on an innings limit of 200 innings. After he hits that limit, he is shut down for the season.The Mets (and other teams) baby their pitchers. If the Mets ever got hot and were in a post season race, they would be taking their best pitcher out of the rotation. Collins is burning out his bullpen with his habit of using pitchers for one batter. He regularly uses his entire bullpen each game but this is OK to him

They babied Matt Harvey and that really turned out great.

Only Roxy could turn one of the major positives of the team into a negative. DeGrom had TJ surgery in the minors aka something Roxy never pays attention to hence why he never talked about DeGrom ever at any point, including earlier this season. Was he 'babied' like Matt Harvey, an All-Star, supposedly was? Why are you hating on Matt Harvey, Roxy? Steven Matz, Noah Syndegaard, and Rafael Montero will likely be ready to pitch when DeGrom hits his innings limit. Again, one of the major positives in the organization is that there are an abundance of young arms who at some point need to be judged in how they fit in the rule of the organization's future. It makes complete sense that in non-competitive September games that a Syndegaard would be getting major league starts.

Also the work by Jeurys Familia and Jenrry Mejia in the bullpen, both former starters, have actually solidified the bullpen as well as Vic Black and Josh Edgin. No longer is it just Carlos Torres pitching from the bullpen.

Collins nor the FO can be questioned in how they have handled the youngest on their staff. It is one of the few things that has worked out well e.g. the choice of making Mejia closer as opposed to a middling starter with good stuff but at best a 6 inning starter. I am not sure why insist on sending starters out there to ultimately, like many young starters, plateau and falling into bad habits when there are no stakes for the season.
