Anyone else still watching? The second season is getting even better reviews than last year, and has been very strong so far. I can't wait for next week's episode which is a two hander (umm not in a sexual way...) and getting a lot of advance praise.

I tuned out in Season 1... I just didn't seem to care about any of the characters or what they were doing. Every week, I would watch it and wonder why... yet, people seem to love it and found a show that eluded me. Go figure...

People on here said I tuned out of Hannibal right when it turned a corner and got good, though. But Masters of Sex was pretty well-received from the beginning... Updated On: 7/22/14 at 04:19 PM

I got bored last season and stopped watching, but husband is still watching away. I tried to get back into it and with no luck. Still boring and really don't care about the characters.

I'm still watching, but I can't say for how much longer. It's difficult when I don't LIKE any of the characters.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

If you don't care about the characters, than there's no real reason to watch. I find the female characters to be the best female ensemble currently on tv (when Libby did her passive aggressive racism on her new black nanny I actually almost shouted at the screen, lol) I'm disappointed the "gay" story will only be dealt with onscreen in every few episodes due to Alison Janey and Beau Bridges' sitcom commitment (ironic that they just got Emmy noms for these roles) but the scene in episode one was heartbreaking.

I actually thought it DID get much better during the end of last year, though--and most critics I've read (AVClub, etc) seem to feel that way. Partly because that's when secondary characters were introduced (the female cancer doctor) or grew.

I'm watching and expect to all season based on how season 2 has begun. I very much like a bunch of the characters (and if I don’t like them, I at least really enjoy not liking some of them). I think a number of the story lines this year have already had winning moments (both Alison Janey and Beau Bridges are terrific in their scenes as the Scully’s). And I though the story line about 18 year old Rose was very well-played and also heart breaking. Love Annaleigh Ashford’s Betty (and totally understand and sympathize with her) and thought her interaction with Rose was telling (about herself and Dr. Masters - “I’m not my worst part” is a very powerful and empowering sentiment (as is giving a young women an IUD)). I also really enjoy the relationship/friendship between Virginia and Dr. DePaul. I’m a little intrigued to see where the Libby and Coral relationship goes (although I am not much of a Libby fan), and her passive aggressive “axe” call out, along with her totally inappropriate monologue about Bill’s relationship to and about their son made me cringe. And, in addition to all that, I’m crazy enough about the fashion and set/décor to watch for a while.

IAMWHATIAM, I agree with you completely. Well, I kinda like Libby--if she weren't so obsessed with the dream of being a happy housewife I think she really could make something of herself. She won me over in that bizarre vacation episode where Bill went back, and she faked a different life to that ultimately creepy older couple. Then again, I often kinda like Betty on Mad Men who is similar--but worse in many ways, so *shrug*.

I wasn't sure about bumping Annaleigh Ashford's contract for this season, but creator Michelle Ashford has made her increase presence somehow feel natural, and she's just a joy to watch.

Yeah I really enjoy this show, too. It's not my favorite drama airing at the moment, but it rarely disappoints and is always worth the hour. The acting and the production design is impeccable, and the stories really fascinate me.

Sheen and Caplan are a fantastic duo, a yin and yang of sorts in so many ways. I also love Julianne Nicholson, what she's bringing to her role is as good as Janney and Bridges (who are giving career-best performances here, by my reckoning.)

It's not that conventionally structured; it's really taking its sweet time to set up stories and unfold them, but I enjoy that in this case because the characters and their time is so interesting and a relevant lens through which to view our lives today.

Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

Nicholson is fantastic. I know the character's fate is inevitable but I hope they can hold out on it...

Yeah, I like the structure too. Apparently this week's is a two hander all set in a hotel room that's gotten great press (the critics were sent out the first three episodes.)

Out of curiousity, what is your fave drama currently airing?

Talk about bumping an old thread! Is anyone still watching?

I needed to bump because I am in the middle of this week's episode and had to stop watching for a moment. I am so stupidly invested in Betty & Helen and it sounds like Helen has pre-eclampsia and a breech baby. So, unless they go for the surprise, less dramatic ending, they are going to kill Helen and Betty has no rights to her kid. This is really hard for a lesbian non-bio mom to watch. I hope I am wrong, but couldn't finish the episode before blabbing about it and don't know anyone who watches.

And, I was right.

Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!
