No specifics given yet... It sadly replaced the Evita tour stop here at www.tpac.com. Might take a pass on this one unless I hear something positive that changes my mind.

It's by Phoenix Entertainment. Non-union. But they do really quality work. Can't say anything about it because they haven't even started rehearsals yet. But I do find it interesting that one of the producers has a very "Game of Thrones" type name.

My parents live in a small town and this tour is coming to the university theater a couple towns over. I saw the brochure for their season and the advertising makes it look like Games of Thrones with singing. Lots of tough guys with swords looking humorlessly at the camera.

While I applaud the producers for the interesting marketing angle, I can't help but laugh at the poor saps who get suckered in by such advertising.

Yeah, the artwork certainly doesn't match the CAMELOT I know.

As far as I know it's just a by-the-book Camelot. But maybe they'll add in a little more sword fighting?

If they're going GoT, they can throw in some T & A (& D of course.) "It's not theater: it's Phoenix."

My teacher is working on the music for this tour and is is going to have a Game of Thornes kind of sound with things like Celtic drums.

My friend Andy is going to be on this tour, though I don't know for sure who he is playing. The guy is damned talented though, so if the rest of the cast is up at his level, the acting/singing should be really on point at least.

Which version of the show are they even doing? The last tour with Michael York and later with Lou Diamond Phillips made some "interesting" changes. "Take Me to the Fair" was in though which I enjoyed, but some of the songs were cut and others shuffled around.

According to their website, it's "The story as you've never seen it before."

It would be a nice change if they hired an age appropriate Arthur. For the majority of the show he should be in his mid 30's, not 50s, 60s or older.
Now living in DC. I really have to change my name on the board.

Well, this guy is older.

Not sure. They haven't started rehearsals yet. I can't imagine it will be too groundbreaking, but I'm assuming there's more sword fighting, etc.

CatsNYRevival, wow that note pissed me off so much. How are they even planning on doing this? Are they rewriting the book, or are they just staging it differently? Either way, for a version like this to be peoples' first viewing of the show is just sad, and it makes me sad that they aren't getting to see a version true to the spirit of the piece.

He's calling his version bigger and better when he really means smaller and cheaper and he accuses past generations of theatre goers of being less sophisticated than today's with their eating, texting and picture taking apparently not considered.

So he's trying to make a 55-year-old musical spectacle seem like an edgy off-Broadway show written today??

Eh. After reading that it sounds like it's going to be a very sparse stage - because it's a cheap ass tour - with some decent lighting, but probably nothing too profound as it's touring. And I know a lot of people in this tour and I don't think you're going to hear any new interpretations of the songs. It'll be pretty basic.

Didn't they just tour Camelot like 3 years ago?

14 cast members and 5 musicians in the pit. That's DEFINITELY "as you've never seen it before".

The pictures I've seen make it look a little "whimsical." It's playing Nashville, so i think I'll see it when I'm home.

I actually kinda like the set design from the photos--at least much more than I expected to (lowered expectations?)

I've no clue but it certainly doesn't have much of the Game of Thrones thing the advertising seemed to want to imply... Still, it's a more elaborate design than I expected given the scope of this tour.
