Well,.. I just took the leap and purchased my first ever smartphone on Amazon, an older model Galaxy s3 no contract (Virgin Mobile) for 199.00. I know, I know!

I have no idea how to use this thing. How do I hook it up?
Probably will arrive in a few days.

Seems from my research that it got pretty much 5 star reviews across the board. I am not a tech nerd, so it doesn't have to do a million things, just phone, surfing, email.

Thanks for any advice you might have.

I'm getting my first one on Monday. I couldn't help you, because I have to make an appt. with a friend to come over to help me with mine! If you know any kindergarteners, I'm sure they'll help if you ask!

Is this something you need to buy airtime cards for since you say there is no contract? If so, you'll need to either go to a store to get one. Or you probably could go to virgin mobile's website to buy airtime. You can probably activate it on their website as well. Other than that, I don't have a clue.

I have virgin mobile and I love it. When you get the phone call them and you can setup a monthly payment plan. They will also guide you through the setup. Just make sure you call them from a different phone. You can also set it up through their website if you want. There's a few different plans. I pay 35 a month for unlimited texts and data and 300 mins. I think its 55 a month for unlimited everything.

I think they have minutes cards you can buy but I've always done the monthly plan so I can't help you with that.

I don't know if you live in NYC but i have great service here and pretty much every where I have traveled in the states.

Have you searched on YouTube? There are tons of user videos that show everything to showing the unboxing of the phone from it's packaging, to setup, to operaton of the phone. You can usually find a video to explain exactly what you are trying to figure out.

it's a learning curve, to say the least. the video teachers on youtube are very, very helpful.

Cool, the Galaxy is very user friendly , there are many tutorials on it plus the directions as well. Good luck!
