YES!

Also, the new trailer for the show is out of this world. This production looks remarkable.

That's one of the best trailers I've seen based on a theatrical production.

Is anyone really shocked by this news? Cameron loves to record his albums live now. It probably saves him a few pounds in studio rental fees. I actually like some of the new lyrics and the cast sounds wonderful from what I've heard but I will have little interest in a production and cast album that doesn't include "Now That I've Seen Her" or some variant of that. I know the lyrics changed several times but the melody was always beautiful and powerful. The new song doesn't have the same impact.

They cut out 'Now That I've Seen Her'? I thought they just added a new song for the character, not replaced it. That's my second favorite song from the show.

The new song definitely replaces "Now That I've Seen Her."

I wonder if it'll be a 2-disc or a 1-disc. Since it's being recorded live I don't see why it can't be complete.

And that trailer is phenomenal!

The trailer is lovely. They sound great and it makes me really want to experience this production.

If you watch the clips from West End Live, the performances sound really solid. Hugh Maynard kills Bui Doi.

(And I'd LOVE to hear Joshua Henry sing Bui Doi!)

Cameron recorded the 25th Anniversary tour of Les Miz live on 2 discs and still made cuts so even if this is a 2 disc release I'd imagine there will still be omissions.

Judging by both Complete Symphonic Recordings, Miss Saigon fits on two discs, whilst Les Miserables is slightly too long, hence cuts are made. Of course, cuts can be made for "artistic reasons", such as, it would appear, the OLCR of Miss Saigon.
IMHO I see Queenie as being more of a brunette...

The symphonic Les Miz is nearly the entire score as it was performed at the time which required 3 discs. The version of the show performed today and for the 25th anniversary tour has cuts that were made since that recording and should have been able to fit on 2 discs without having to make additional cuts for the album. And even if it couldn't have fit the extra tracks could have gone up on iTunes like Cameron did with Betty Blue Eyes. It doesn't make sense to me that they felt the need to make additional cuts from an album that was recorded live and could have included the entire show.

When is the show be recorded/released?

I had thought the cuts to the OLCR of the show were because it was made at the tail end of the LP era. Thus the odd disc crossover at "This is The Hour" because that was how much could fit on one LP even though the whole first act fits on one CD. Come to think of it, it's odd they never fixed that in re-releases.

If you haven't seen the BWW headline yet, there's one track available to preview on SoundCloud. The BWW article says it will be available only until the end of August.

The Engineer sounds very mushmouthed. Almost like someone would sound if they were singing in between bites of their dinner. The lyric changes are unnessisary. They're not better than the lyrics they're replacing. They're just different.

^^ I completely agree with you. He doesn't sound great and I hate that they changed the lyrics, there is just no reason for it. Also, Alistair Brammer's voice is too high, imo.

A lot of those lyric changes have been around for a very long time. Especially the "fresh meat" line instead of the "Virgin ass" line.

I'm mostly talking about the revised lyrics for the marines. I don't think I've ever even heard the "virgin ass" lyric.

Friend reported that not only is "Now That I've Seen Here" is gone but also the "Room 317".

Ie.

Kim: Good evening ma'am
Ellen: Dont turn the bed yet
Kim: I'm not the maid
Ellen: what do you want then?!

That's the best 10 seconds in this glorious musical. AH, is nothing sacred?!

Nope. That bird flew out of the show a long time ago.

And there are lots of little lyric changes throughout - so be prepared.

And there's a new song in place of Now That I've Seen Her called Maybe. It's a pretty good song and serves to soften Ellen for a short bit, before she sings to Chris that there's no way she's going to let Kim live anywhere close to them.

GGERSTEN-

Probably trying feebly to make Ellen more likeable. I feel like they're always trying to do that. Frankly, I never found Ellen to be unlikeable- I always found her to be another victim of war.

When it comes to the US I hope they cast Ellen as an Asian woman again. That was always the best accidental casting ever.

"Maybe" is nowhere near as good as "Now That I've Seen Her." I know the authors have never really been happy with Ellen's song and the lyrics have been changed time and time again but the music was never the problem. The problem is this whole idea the authors have that Ellen has to be a likable character. She's not and she's never going to be a likeable character for the audience because to us she's always going to be the "other woman." We're not on her side. We want things to work out with Chris and Kim and no new song will change that.

Aww, I love Jon Jon Briones as the Engineer. Maybe he comes across better in person than on a recording.

I agree about the lyric changes though.
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

I think Jon Jon Briones comes across better live... I saw him in the tour years ago and thought he was incredible

the lyrical changes are quite jarring for me and i don't hate them but i don't like them
