This is affirmative action run amock. I guess I should be glad they are being upfront that this is a "black" show so that we non-racists can select other, more inclusive fare. But I really don't see the need for another minority-appeasing re-write. After all, Orpheus was a REAL PERSON and he was Greek, not black. And Broadway is the "Great White Way" is it not? Well, it USED TO BE.

Bigotry aside for now... Orpheus was not a real person, but rather a human in a Greek Myth. And Broadway was known as "The Great White Way" because of all of the white lights used on marquees and such at night, way back in the day when electric lights were a newer, rarer thing.
Back to bigotry... I'm as liberal as they come, but your comments are ugly and offensive. I support your right to say them and feel that way, so support me when I say STFU.

Jk, you beat me to it. The mythical Orpheus, I might add, wasn't Greek per se; he was Thracian--one of the Greeks' more barbaric neighbors. And I don't recall a Thracian ever having played him.
And "Black Orpheus" isn't about the mythological Orpheus; it's a reimagining and modernization of the Greek myth. And it contains parts for white cast members.
I guess racism is still part of the holy triumverate that includes stupidity and ignorance. I'm relieved to see that some things never change.
