After almost 15 minutes of watching something totally incomprehensible, my wife and I gave up scratching our heads. We had no clue what was going on and said bye bye as it did not look like watching it any longer would help..

I watched the full episode, and I'll probably watch at least one more. That said, I couldn't begin to describe it to someone.

An admirable start to what looks to be an interesting and provocative series. I'm not feeling the Cult Leader in The Desert storyline, yet, but the rest of it looks good.

I can recommend the novel.

I found the novel so tedious and unsatisfying. I really like the idea for it, so I'm hoping the series improves on it, but everything I've read seems to suggest otherwise. I may watch it tonight.

Really enjoyed it. I think it has lots of potential. It's eerie and dark with touches of black humor. My kind of show! Will continue to watch.

On a side note, I wish that HBO or SHOWTIME could lure David Lynch back to television. Given a free hand, I think he could deliver an amazing series. Or is he dried up? Seems that some artists, be they actors, musicians, writers, directors, etc., have a finite amount of quality material in them. Really wish Lynch would give it another shot.

It's funny that you mention David Lynch because The Leftovers felt like imitation David Lynch to me.

Ugh. I tried to like it. I felt like the show's characters and their circumstances were underdeveloped and cliche, while the premise is biting off WAY more than it can chew.

I'll give it one more shot, sometimes these shows are slow to take off, but my overall first impression wasn't good.

Come on HBO.

I just watched it and thought it was phenomenal. It's definitely not going to be a show for everyone, especially someone like Roxy who has the mental capacity of a gerbil or his wife who, with anything more complex than YO GABBA GABBA, will start to convulse from having actual thoughts, but as for me, I found it absolutely fascinating.

Though I am a bit disconcerted by the amount of contemporary entertainment that's about the collapse and destruction of everything and am hyper-wary of indulging in it, I sooooo liked Justin Theroux that I will tune in again. I found him sexy and compelling in the way '70s actors used to be.

I do have to laugh about being sooooooooo confused 15 minutes in that Mr Roxy scratched his head and turned in early. I mean, it wasn't hard to follow at all.

Oh I totally believe that the Mr. & Mrs. were scratching each other's heads (for each other, like monkeys do) with looks of utter confusion, much like the ones they make when the sun goes away every day.

Where did it go?

I LOVED it! I'm watching it a 2nd time right now. Like Jordan said...not for everyone, but if you like high concept, symbolic, darkly humorous serious drama, this is for you. Although you really have to open your mind to accept the artsy direction. The subject of "LOSS" and/or other mental health issues and how people deal with them is a hugely difficult thing to dramatize, and I found the pilot episode very captivating...

I enjoyed it and I'm glad to see the Carver twins back on TV. I'm going to miss them on Teen Wolf, but this is HBO so maybe we'll be seeing more of them than we could have seen on MTV? I hope.

You guys are making me LOL. I just realized the OP says they watched "almost " 15 minutes. So I'm thinking it was the pendulous bulge that left them dazed and confused.
