Check out the recording of him playing Jesus. It's on Itunes. I could listen to that everyday. It's epic.

"And I don't think it's just my imagination, but Drew's voice lessens and gets hoarser and more coarse every year.°

Well I think you are imagining...his voice is far from getting worse

Hes done a wonderful job as Phantom in the Concert Version of Love Never Dies last year in Vienna and check this out...it is from last Week

Drews voice lessensI dont think so

Oh man, his voice is like crack to me.

I saw him on his first performance as Armand ever in SF. Ironically the director came out and announced that it was his first performance (also Will Swenson's first performance covering Drew's old track) He said (lol) not to worry because both men were very good. It makes me laugh to think of that now, as I love me some Will and Drew. Since when do directors give disclaimers about their actors?! He was right, the actors were amazing...it was the show that blew.

Sad he won't be back on Broadway anytime soon. But glad at least it's his choice, was hoping he might sneak into the Broadway production of Hunchback.

I always forget that Will Swensen was in Lestat. I saw drew as armand in one of his first Armand performances, when they had that medley ending and he was still doing the 'The pulse of love within my life was never quite enough' line. I still think that's a really good line. Bernie Taupin nailed the essence of the character Armand completely with that one.

LESTAT did not blow that much. Come on, we've all seen worse. The music holds up. The score is just beautiful. I think it needed some recasting and also needed to be cut by maybe 30 minutes or so. But to this day I still enjoy it occasionally.

Yeah, I guess it's just me. But from what I've heard lately Drew's voice sounds quite coarse, almost gravel -y at times.

Drew is one of my favorite performers. I love his voice, and I agree his Judas/Jesus is amazing. The Amstetten video is amazing. Definitely my favorite Judas available on video. Give it a watch on youtube.

Drew Sarich and Hugh Panaro were extraordinary in Lestat!! The fact that Elton John did not allow them to release the official CD because the show wasn't successful was a real mistake. Thank goodness the show is still preserved and available in other ways for people to discover and enjoy. Their voices were something to behold !!!!
I hope that Drew comes back to the Sttates again to perform sometime soon and especially with Hugh Panaro. Together they were unstoppable and amazing!!

The fact that Elton John did not allow them to release the official CD because the show wasn't successful was a real mistake.

The CD was/is not in a finished state. For someone to revisit it down the line, it first has to be mixed. Right now it's just what they call "stems."

Been to the JCS Shows in Munich…the sound was awful some times but this fantastic cast made up for it….Drew got standing ovations after his “Gethsemane”…well deserved !!

Someone uploaded an audio from Gethsemane

g.d.e.l.g.i. pray tell how you know this - I was told it has been finished but not released. Would be curious to hear more on that story anyway.

I personally thought Drew was the superior Lestat. Lestat is a show that often gets a lot of hate but it will always hold a special place in my heart. I still believe it can be fixed.

I know this is the most delayed response ever, but thank you bertrande2 for those three links. I saw the ice bucket challenge, someone posted a link somewhere. His kids are HUGE. The boy is very pretty. Mini Drew with luscious blonde hair! I think his Gethsemane from Vienna 2008 (?) is my favorite out of all the ones I've heard.

missthemountains, for sure, no question. he was eons better than Hugh. He is my definitive Lestat for ever. Hugh is just SO campy and his spoken line delivery is awful. I'm sorry if that makes anyone angry. I know he's really a very nice very amiable person.
