Let's try to guess how Larry Kramer might make this the worst of all possible news!

From the Times:

Two studies by different laboratory groups each found 100 percent protection in monkeys that got monthly injections of antiretroviral drugs, and there was evidence that a single shot every three months might work just as well.

I hope Larry stands outside of clinics in his bathrobe passing out pamphlets.
Everyone is aware that "Sutton Ross" used to go by "Sue Storm". Right?

I got my most recent HIV negative test result this week and I thought, "Larry Kramer's right, prevention and education has been an abject failure."

Larry will only have succeeded once we're all positive and fighting for a cure.

'I got my most recent HIV negative test result this week and I thought, "Larry Kramer's right, prevention and education has been an abject failure."'

THIS! I just got my negative test back a few weeks ago and all I could think was 'I've done a pretty decent job taking care of my sexual health thanks to the knowledge I have about prevention.' I'm considering going on PReP, and my doctor is certainly open to it. I have yet to make the final decision because, in fact, I have managed to be sexually active for over 20 years and not contracted HIV or any other serious STD (OK...I got the clap once and crabs twice...I'll cop to that). But I'm still considering it because it's good to know that there are further steps I can take to make sure I remain negative.

Although, ya know, that makes me a coward. In some very strange definition of the word.

I have been going over similar thoughts. I expected my result to be negative and it was. But I knew there was a slight possibility that it might not be because one time since my last test something went wrong, but at the time I didn't think it went wrong enough to go on PEP. (I had done PEP once years before that when something went much wronger, just to be on the safe side).

So the result was negative and I thought, "Okay. From here on in though, what if something goes wrong that doesn't seem like such a big deal at the time but I later find out it results in serocoversion? Wouldn't I be really sorry I didn't take a pill a day?"

I didn't come to any conclusion, but this is what I've been thinking about. It probably would be just like me to seroconvert the week before injectable prevention use becomes widespread.
