The Telegraph's reporting of Okonedo's win = WTF?

British actress Sophie Okonedo has won the Tony award for best performance by an actress in a play with her Broadway debut in A Raisin in the Sun.

She beat co-star Anika Noni Rose, a previous Tony winner who plays the Jinni in Aladdin.

lmao. that is really sad. Did they watch the telecast? They don't know that Anika is a WOMAN and the MAN who plays the Genie in Aladdin actually won that night in a different category?

Why didn't someone call the police? I hope Anika didn't suffer any cuts or bruises.

It says co-star, but lists her as performing in a different show?

What an utter shambles. I hate The Telegraph. Not quite as much as The Daily Mail, but it's not far behind. Hateful, everything-phobic mouthpiece of the far right.

I emailed the telegraph to let them know of the error. They've fixed it.

However, it turns out Jinni is the traditional Arabic spelling and is a real word. Their editor pointed it out to me.

The archiac spelling of the word would be "Djinn", actually.
