I was surprised by the wins for Raisin, which I didn't see coming. Everything else fell just as I thought it would. You?

I also was surprised by Raisin winning, particularly director and revival. I felt those two awards were between Twelfth Night and The Glass Menagerie.

Agreed. This year, I think I called more winners than any other season. RAISIN was the one that defied my predictions. I'll happily say that I was thrilled with Sophie Okonedo's win, however. She's brilliant and I HOPED she'd win, but didn't expect it.

The only other big difference was Best Musical. I convinced myself that the voters would give GENTLEMAN'S Book and Director but BEAUTIFUL the big prize due to commercial appeal. Yet I'm also not surprised. BEAUTIFUL already has a built-in audience, and it has its flaws. GENTLEMAN'S is clever and deserves creative praise. ...I'm so used to politics overriding. This was a fun year.

I will say, though, that Actress in a Featured Role for both play and musical were the most difficult for me to predict this year. I filled out my little home-ballot and left both blank because they were just too difficult to call. While Sophie was the one I hoped for, I also thought it would got to either Mare or Celia. And I couldn't even begin with regard to Featured Actress in a Musical.

I don't think there was anything too surprising about tonight. Sophie, however, was my happiest little "OH REALLY?!" moment.

Me too. I missed the three Raisin wins, and only missed four others -- musical sound design, musical lighting design, and scenic design for both.

(Sorry but when I have a fourth row seat -- not on the extreme side -- and miss whole huge scenes because the set doesn't allow me to see people on the second level at all, then I'd say the set was not well designed for the theatre (as well as not staged properly by the director). (Act One). But I digress.

Sophie Okonedo for sure...

I thought that Celia Keenan-Bolger had it in the bag.

I wasn't sure who to expect to win for Lead Actress. Like it felt like a lot of people were on the Kelli O'Hara train. I guess because I haven't seen Beautiful or had much desire to see it, Jessie Mueller was no on my radar. But again, maybe it surprised me because of my lack of interest in it.

I think the biggest shock was that Hedwig won for best revival of a musical. I thought for sure Les Miz would win this year.
