This is not meant to be a negative thread, although I'm sure some will perceive it to be. It's also not meant to be a rumor post, but merely a place to post about any extensions or immediate closings post tonite's TONY awards!

It's selling out, due to all the noms and wins from other gps. The show isn't going anywhere until New Yr's at the earliest.

Harvey's play?

Although, aren't many current productions limited runs to begin with?

Mothers and Sons is only selling tickets through early July and Casa was extended through June 29, so not sure those can be affected by anything.

Casa will play out the run but will not extend. If Birney had won, it would have been a different story.

^ With all due respect to the wonderful Birney, his name is not one that keeps a show running. The Gentlman's win will mean alot to that run and the Beautiful loss will mean nothing to that run. Raisin will get a boost at the expense of Inishman.

In order of vulnerability after tonight:

Mothers 0 for 2
Bullets 0 for 4
After Midnight 1 for 7
If/Then 0 for 2
Rocky 1 for 4

I predict they'll all be gone by Sep 1. And Hedwig (4 for 8 noms) will add 2 weeks.

Edit: Since June 8, Mothers announced a 6/22/14 closing, and Hedwig announced an 8-week extension, though not with NPH.

O-ho the Wells Fargo wagon is a-comin' down the street.
Oh please let it be for me!

As long as After Midnight continues to bring in big names for the "special guest", it'll remain open. It's been going good business since it opened. Bullets will last until the end of the year. Rocky's all but done. The most interesting thing will be if Hedwig/NPH extends.
A Chorus Line played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013.

I agree that After Midnight is safe as long as they're able to get great names. It's a tough show to award. Other than technical awards there's really not much for it to win. There's not much "acting" in it compared to other shows. The only award I thought it had "in the bag" was choreography and that's the one it got.

AFTER MIDNIGHT will keep chugging along as long as they continue the quality caliber of Special Guest Stars...

I feel that HEDWIG will reach the end of the road when Neil leaves, unless they find someone with enough star power to maintain the momentum NPH brought.

MOTHERS AND SONS and ROCKY, I feel, are in the most immediate danger, with M&S being gone by the 4th of July and ROCKY by September.

BULLETS has enough going for it to bring it through the new year, I think.

I hope Hedwig does extend. Nothing seems to be going into the Belasco in the fsll. Also, I think they could find other people to take on the role.

Would John Cameron Mitchell ever go into Hedwig when inevitably Mr Harris departs?

I've said it in other threads but After Midnight will close Aug 31 and Honeymoon in Vegas will open at the Brooks in November.

I could see them closing HEDWIG and doing a run in Los Angeles or Chicago unless they get a big star to replace him.

Does anyone have any idea if A Rasin in the Sun or Lady Day or Violet will extend? A Rasin in the Sun definitely caught everyone by surprise with its wins last night. I think everyone saw it coming with Audra. Been tied up these months so hoping to catch up on shows towards the end of summer!

All of Raisin's ads say no chance of extending but that could just be a marketing ploy.

The River is coming into the Circle in the Square so I doubt Lady Day has a chance to extend.

Raisin is scheduled to close this weekend and as amazing as it would be, even on the heels of its Tony wins, it would be impossible to extend and try to fill that many seats with just a week's lead time.

After Midnight doesn't plan on budging from the Brooks. They were very hopeful that their Tony performance would catapult their sales a la 'Smokey Joes Cafe'. That is obviously to be determined, but they have no plans of closing at the end of the summer.

I hope Violet extends, but with no Tonys I don't see it happening. I doubt they can get by past August 10th with Sutton's name alone. Sad but I'm just trying to be realistic. And as others have said in numerous threads awards don't matter for If/Then. As long as Idina is in the show it will stay open.

I know there probably isn't a BIG name to replace Idina who could handle the score but I hope If/Then stays open after she leaves. There are a lot of other actresses I'd like to see play the role.
