I caught this down at the Angelika this morning and was quite taken with it. I haven't watched SNL in years so I was only familiar with Jenny Slate from her whacked out performance as Jean-Ralphio's sister on P&R. Here she's a lot more toned down (well, I guess you can't really be anything but toned down compared to Miss Saperstein), and kind of had a Frances Ha thing going on. Messed up Brooklyn life, but still funny and lovable.

SPOILER*******************

After being dumped and losing her job, Jenny has a one-night stand which results in her getting pregnant. She immediately decides to an abortion and the tension refreshingly doesn't lie in will she or won't go through with it, but rather will she or won't she tell the guy, who has been developing feelings for her.

This is about as rom-com of an abortion story as we're bound to get.

END SPOILERS***************************

The film isn't even 90 minutes, and I believe it was an expansion of a short film by the same name. Sometimes short and sweet is just right.
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco. Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!
