The Rocky win for scenic design was also well deserved I thought.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

I'm finding this jumping thing so weird haha, but I'm loving all the backstage passing shows things.

The jumping was weird, but it wasn't a horrible opening.

Is this After Midnight's performance for the night? I guess I'm so used to other openings being so long and then a huge speech or whatever from the host.

"Hugh Jackman is auditioning for Tigger in a future production of Winnie the Pooh?"

I was about to post this because this was the first thing that came to my mind while watching it.

"The wonderful thing about Hugh Jackmans is that Hugh Jackmans are wonderful things. Their tops are made of rubber, their bottoms are made of strings. They're bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, fun fun, fun! But the most wonderful thing about Hugh Jackmans is that he's the only one! He's the only one!"

That was really a strange opening number. However, obviously Hugh Jackman has great aerobic capacity!

I didn't like the whole hippitty hop jumping around by Hugh. Dumb.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

OMG some of Jackman's jokes are hilarious: the one being behind NPH, the one about the meaning of WTF. Love it.

And After Midnight was just wow - a good thing Hugh didn't try for an opening number.
