I don't believe it. Do they have a theater?

Kad-I was going to say that. (I had heard they wanted the Atkinson. Plus, wouldn't they have put tix on sale by now??? I mean you need an advance.)

Maybe they are counting on Lewis's name and the familiarity people have with the movie.

The fact the news item hasn't been picked up by Playbill or BroadwayWorld seems telling to me.

November seems too soon considering the prep needed for a Broadway Musical. In the movie business claims of this nature are routine. But if it's true I hope it's a winner. I know one can never trust the regional reviews (check the ones for "Dead Accounts")but the movie story is a solid and it would be great to hear Marvin's final score, early draft or not.

Will the critics be kind due to Hamlisch's involvement or will they rip it?

I was a little disappointed when this musical moved out of "talks" and into development as a vehicle for a professional Jerry Lewis impersonator. I was hoping it would skew a little further from the Lewis-isms, much like "The Wedding Singer" is not written for an Adam Sandler sound-alike.

In fact, I sort of hoped it would be inspired by the recent Eddie Murphy version- there aren't a lot of very funny roles for black character actors.

Show was somewhat likable, but needed quite a bit of "polish" before being Broadway-ready. Will be curious to hear what they've changed after the Nashville tryout...

Another article mentioned that Lewis would, again, be directing. Oy vey. I think "The Day the Clown Cried" has a better shot of showing up at the multiplex for Thanksgiving.

How about Clown as a musical?
