So my one week in NYC in January is turning out pretty well so far. Tickets to The River and The Elephant Man are secured (Hugh and Bradley - oh mamma!). But I cried when I saw that It's Only A Play will end its run before I arrive. What are the chances that the season will be extended? Does it happen often with plays with big stars?
All depends on their schedules really, and whether or not anyone wants to extend with it.
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
Unlikely. It says "Strictly Limited Engagement" on its website. Usually 'Strictly' shows don't extend, although I'm sure there have been exceptions.
Also, a bunch of shows end their runs a few days into January every year. So this may not be the only show disappearing then.
