Has she ever been approach to appear in a Broadway show during her career?
Ms. Day began her career as a singer and toured all around the States before becoming an actress. So she most certainly was not a stranger to live stage performances.
Seems like she could have played in quite a few musical of that time. Almost strange it never happened.

She may have been approached but turned it down. She is well known for knowing what she wanted to do and firmly sticking to it. She's probably one of the few big stars that was perfectly fine with being type-cast.
I was previously known as Mr. Nowak (Joined: 5/20/13).

The only time I ever heard Day's name mentioned for a LIVE performance was for the 1985 "Follies In Concert" at the Avery Fisher Hall. It was a long shot but many hoped it might have happened. Of course Barbara Cook was wonderful but I think Doris would have made a perfect Sally. Coincidently she was also mentioned for the film version that never materialized in the late seventies but it seems like everyone's name was bantered about for that project including Debbie Reynolds as Ms. Durant Plummer.

That's interesting, because Follies was exactly what I had in mind as a sort of production Day could've been appearing in.
