Apparently Brad Pitt is producing the second adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates' "Blonde," and has gotten Chastain to star as Marilyn. I cannot believe I have not heard anything about this up until now. It could always fall through, as these things often do. However, the idea of of Chastain as Monroe could be fantastic. As much as I adore Michelle Williams, she did not really do anything for me in "My Week With Marilyn." She was not helped by the lumbering film she was appearing in either.

I welcome this as well. I too, thought the resplendent characterization presented by Michelle Williams in 'My Week With Marilyn' was offset by a rather meandering and melancholy film. Hopefully the Chastain/Pitt paring can bring some well needed panache to Marilyn's story.

Actress Naomi Watts was also tapped to play Marilyn for some time, but plans for that seemed to have evaporated. She is probably quite hesitant to do any biopics since 'Diana' bombed.

Well, Celia Foote in The Help was a take-off on Marilyn -- in the book, she's referred to as such -- and Chastain said at the time that she boned up on Monroe's life and filmography for inspiration, so she's already done her homework.

I, for one, thought Michelle Williams was exquisite in My Week with Marilyn, even if the movie was subpar. As a longtime Marilyn admirer, I thought she came the closest to capturing who Norma Jeane really was, as opposed to doing a Monroe impersonation.
