I don't like to kick around rumors cause that's not the cool thing to do. However I hear that these shows are having trouble filling the seats and my be in trouble. Any thoughts or facts that support or debunk these rumors?
Yes, all three shows took a box office hit last week and are likely to take another this week. But if you look at all the shows' grosses, every show took a drop last week even the big hits (which simply means fewer premium seats were sold). The trend right now is down and will probably remain so for a couple more weeks until tourist season kicks in. Right now there are graduations, end of the school year, weddings and other seasonal events competing for the theatre-goer's time and money.
Also we don't know what the advance sales are.
Of the three Rocky is just that, rocky, but the other two seem okay for the moment.
I would much rather worry about Mothers and Sons which probably has not broken even since it began. The gross has sagged badly into the mid-100s. If it doesn't win Sunday the run could be cut short.

Wrong. I'm not starting a rumor which is why I asked if there were any facts to support or debunk these rumors. In any case thank you for those who educated me on the slowness of the season. Wishing nothing but those three shows long life.
I agree with WOSQ-- LOTS of family holidays right now, graduations, anniversaries, Father's Day, school getting out, etc. I bet things pick up in a few weeks.
Wait a minute! I have a sequel?? When did Goldenboy 2 appear. I was told one was enough. Damn. Please don't confuse me with Goldenboy 2 (no offense Goldenboy 2.. just want to keep it straight... so to speak)
"Oh God. Stop being overly sensitive. I asked a question and got intelligent answers. Get over it."
You're right. I need to come to terms with the fact that not everyone on here is capable of asking meaningful questions and can only spend their time endlessly speculating as to when a show will close or dreamcasting the next revival of Brigadoon. I need to be more tolerant. My bad.
Can we re-title this thread: "3 shows didn't get great reviews or many award nominations- can we just assume business is bad and they'll probably close?"
Then we'll be able to judge the validity of the information in its correct context.
Once Rocky closes, the Rocky haters can than come out and have a party at a local watering hole celebrating victory in their cause from saving the masses from seeing Rocky. They can than put their tiny heads together and decide which current show deserves their self righteous scorn.
And the Rocky lovers can clutch their pearls and cry?
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
The defense rests .Condescending remarks such as yours shows I am right. If a show you liked and the critics did not closed prematurely, you would be "clutching your pearls and crying".
I saw it and enjoyed it. You do not agree and I could care less. I love people on the board who basically wet their pants when a favorite of theirs performs and wind up sounding like teenagers who have a crush on that person. Whatever show they are in could be crap but as long as their favorite is in it that is all that matters and the show will be compared to Hamlet.
