And now, another mass shooting on a college campus. As a gun owner, I want more regulation. My dad was a licensed firearms dealer. At one time I got a death threat - so he got me a licensed gun, and we went to the range to make sure I was OK with it if the threat ever materialized.

But, I am fine regulating the weapons so that when used, for their intended purpose, the damage they do is limited.

And Snafu, I am so sorry for your brother. I hope by sharing his story, it provides some lessons and maybe perspective for others.

His death by self emmolation was after my Brother attempted to pry the family's gun locker open but was unable. We had a collection of my Grandfather's guns from WW2 where he was a marksman of notorietyMy folks were resposible gun owners. Since he could not get a gun he chose another route. At least the route he took, he only hurt himself. Yes, psych evals might not be 100% nor will be gun regulation but a cobination of the two might be the "cocktail" to at least curtail gun violence in this country. Even if ONE ,singular, life is saved, it will have been well worth the effort. To sit by and just accept the status quo is allowing these atrocities to continue murders to happen.

Erik. It is reported that today's courthouse shooting was thwarted by the front door deputy. He shot the suspect dead and, as a result, only the deputy was injured. No other innocent casualties.
