In thinking about the play "Noises Off" and seeing how everything these days has a video cam, wouldn't it be interesting to be able to watch a stream of backstage activity for a live performance, maybe something like a Broadway show, a concert, a sitcom filmed in front of a studio audience or an awards show such as the Oscars or the Tonys.

Sky Arts did this five years ago for the ENO production of La Boheme screening the show on their original channel and backstage views broadcast simultaneously on SKy Arts 2. Not sure it has been repeated since and unfortunately very few people subscribed to these channels at that time.

I should have figured. Every time I come up with a million dollar idea, someone else has already done it. I wonder how Thomas Edison got around that?

I'll delete my post and you go run with it. Honestly Sky Arts had all of about 12 subscribers at that time so you can still grab the glory and the million bucks. It's what Edison would have done...

Unfortunately your response has already been cached, so someone out there will be able to find it.

It's like here in the US. They tried running Broadway shows on a Pay Per View basis and just didn't get enough subscribers. They tried it with Smokey Joe's Cafe, but I'm not sure they did any others. Americans want their musicals for free.

That cache memory will be everyone's undoing in the end.

Too bad the pay-per-view never caught on. Though if the Lincoln Centre Archieve started that then I would have to cut up my credit card.

Hope your next million dollar idea is just around the corner.

Maybe a website that brings together lovers of the theater and the Broadway world. Now if I could only think of a name for it.
