It comes out on June 20th, but it looks like nobody freakin' cares.

I've seen plenty of ads and the every time I watch television these past few days I've seen the trailer at least once or twice. This isn't Harry Potter 9 it's a movie-musical that'll get its press after its out I'm sure. An Eastwood film, at that.

I just saw the trailer twice during an hour long show I was watching.

Seeing this is opening in the Summer, is Eastwood expecting this to NOT get any love with the awards?

We have not been given our orders by the Entertainment Industrial Complex to talk it up yet. Right now we are supposed to only talk about Maleficent.
Can anyone tell me how the line has been?

Kind of hard to talk about it if you have not seen it.

I know I personally don't care about it. The preview makes it appear to be suuuuper boring.

what should we be saying?

It's a movie, what is there to "freakin'" care about? I didn't care it was a stage show, I certainly don't care it's a movie. Oh. It looks like you were right.

I think OP meant nobody who is freaking, i.e. a freak, seems to be talking about it.

Has anyone heard from Cheech or Chong?

I liked the show. I like the group. That week, I'll look at the reviews and if it isn't totally panned, I'll go. What else am I meant to be doing in preparation exactly?

Nobody? I'm sure like 5 people are talking about a movie-musical that hasn't come out yet, so no one can really form an opinion....somewhere.

The studio isn't expecting it to be a hit. I'm sure they've reconsidered how much they're spending on publicity based on the the estimated predictions.

I don't think the movie is going to live up to the show to be honest. It doesn't really strike me as the show that was on Broadway (I know it is). When people talk about Jersey Boys on Broadway, and I've seen it, they know it is as this big budget musical that is a HUGE hit. The movie looks like a low budget indie. Very dark too. I think Eastwood did a good job of making it look his own.

Excited for the movie, nonetheless. Love the music.

JB hasn't been doing an early media bombardment la Les Miz, which is probably part of it. I think there is only one theatrical trailer and maybe two (?) different TV commercials.

Disliked the stage show, like the music and looking forward to the movie. From what I have seen of the trailers-for me-looks good.

"Kind of hard to talk about it if you have not seen it."

That's no excuse. A month before the Les Miserables movie came out, everyone here was talking about it. Heck, Into The Woods hasn't even released a trailer, and yet everyone is talking about it.

As previously discussed in another thread, Eastwood also has a tendency to begin advertising for his films with only a few week advance.

"and yet everyone is talking about it."

I know several people who haven't talked about it once.

So, OP, what do you want to say about it? START a conversation, instead of ask why not.
