I've seen plenty of ads and the every time I watch television these past few days I've seen the trailer at least once or twice. This isn't Harry Potter 9… it's a movie-musical that'll get its press after its out I'm sure. An Eastwood film, at that.
It's a movie, what is there to "freakin'" care about? I didn't care it was a stage show, I certainly don't care it's a movie. Oh. It looks like you were right.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I liked the show. I like the group. That week, I'll look at the reviews and if it isn't totally panned, I'll go. What else am I meant to be doing in preparation exactly?
The studio isn't expecting it to be a hit. I'm sure they've reconsidered how much they're spending on publicity based on the the estimated predictions. Boxoffice.com
I don't think the movie is going to live up to the show to be honest. It doesn't really strike me as the show that was on Broadway (I know it is). When people talk about Jersey Boys on Broadway, and I've seen it, they know it is as this big budget musical that is a HUGE hit. The movie looks like a low budget indie. Very dark too. I think Eastwood did a good job of making it look his own.
Excited for the movie, nonetheless. Love the music.
JB hasn't been doing an early media bombardment à la Les Miz, which is probably part of it. I think there is only one theatrical trailer and maybe two (?) different TV commercials.

"Kind of hard to talk about it if you have not seen it."
That's no excuse. A month before the Les Miserables movie came out, everyone here was talking about it. Heck, Into The Woods hasn't even released a trailer, and yet everyone is talking about it.
So, OP, what do you want to say about it? START a conversation, instead of ask why not.
