Many people find his historical novels to be his best writing. Give me Myra/Myron, The City and the Pillar and The Judgement of Paris anyday instead--I do find them hard going.

JULIAN and BURR were both tremendously entertaining. I tried LINCOLN and CREATION and just couldn't.
