Colfer to play a young Noel Coward, in what must be the outlandish piece of Ridiculous Playing Sublime in memory. This Colfer thing has gone on long enough.

Surely there are spineless simpering British actors they could get for a lot less...

I always wonder how people get opportunities they shouldn't get. Luck?

I guess this movie depends on nobody knowing a thing about Noel Coward and it will allow Colfer to create a new persona and call it "Noel Coward."
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

About time an American plays a Brit for a change. Lately, we've had a surge of Brits playing historical or just fictional American roles. Just today, it was revealed that Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke and About a Boy's (British film) Nicholas Hoult have just been cast as Bonnie and Clyde in a new cinematic retelling of the story, based on Jeff Guinn's book GO Down Together.

That or on whether or not an actor can bring off what smug people are so certain he can't.

I didn't realize Noel Coward had a vagina.
Everyone is aware that "Sutton Ross" used to go by "Sue Storm". Right?

I'm always amazed at the vitriol on this board whenever Chris Colfer's name comes up.

Why?

I'm not being sarcastic, I mean what about this board specifically surprises you.

Is there a reason he should be less annoying to people here than he is to people elsewhere?

"That or on whether or not an actor can bring off what smug people are so certain he can't."

I find Colfer to be annoying. Whether he can act the part or not, his annoyance factor will bleed over into the role.

Maybe if he were playing Leigh Bowery I could see it. But this is Noel Coward.

It's like when Kristen Chenoweth was trying to play Dusty Springfield. It just doesn't work. Even if she lip-synched to Springfield's vocals, the speaking voice doesn't match the singing voice. And it will be the same with Colfer.

I don't think I hear much reaction to him elsewhere in my life, but I didn't mean that I was surprised people on here find him annoying, it's just that the language always seems to get really abusive around him for some reason.
