I went on a Monday night a few weeks ago in the rain, and it was packed. Just as bad as If/Then.

No, rain isn't a big deal to people. It's a Saturday, it's going to be packed.

Are the lotto crowds for the 7pm and 10pm shows usually about the same size?

I went today for a 10 pm show lotto
1. The lotto moved to the next building and ended up being chased away by a securityguard.
2. The amount of people doing the lotto is significantly larger than the other time I came (friday night)
3. A lot of people in the lotto failed from some other shows (like wicked and aladdin) so they came to hedwig 10pm
4. Only box seats were given out for this show

Hope that helps

I did SRO last night, and the staff (especially the house manager, whom I can now accurately identify!) were nothing but lovely. They let us sit under the awning while it was raining earlier, and while we had to move and stand around the time the first lotto was setting up, it was not a big deal. Someone asked about leaning - yes, in most of the line, you can lean against the wall. Also, there was an older person in line, and a staff member specifically said it was fine for him to sit on the steps and made a big point of letting people know the cut-off for maximum tickets so they weren't standing there needlessly. I think it helped tremendously that it was a very 'well-behaved' line and no one was looking to push the staff on their policies.

Something to be aware of - they are cutting back the number of SRO tickets sold again. There were only 11 for the 7:00, I'm not sure how many for the 10:00. Especially given the lower number, there really isn't much of a difference between when you need to get there for the 7:00 vs. the 10:00, which was maybe 3:00-4:00 at the latest.

Great show, as always, and a super positive experience.

4. Only box seats were given out for this show

This is incorrect. There aren't 20 box seats at the Belasco to begin with. A friend of a friend won lotto last night and his seats were second row center orchestra.

A couple weeks ago, there were six front row center seats given to lottery winners.

Any thoughts/tips/advice for a Sunday matinee? What time should I get in line for SRO? Would there even be SRO for a Sunday matinee? Thanks!

I'm getting in around noon tomorrow and plan to go right to the Belasco. I'll report back with line info and I'll try to remember to ask about Sunday mats. I hope the weather report for tomorrow is exaggerated! Seems like it'll be a long, wet wait. :P

Thank you! That would be amazing. And good luck. I've had some wet waits before. Not my favorite.

In regards to the Belasco staff, I saw Twelfth Night/Richard III many times and thought everyone was very nice and super helpful. However, in my 2 trips to Hedwig, I have noticed that the attitude of the staff (most of them worked Twelfth Night) has changed. But can you blame then? The crowd from Shakespeare to Hedwig is a complete 360. It's still not acceptable though. I did SRO the other night and luckily there was a Hurt Locker Playbill laying on the seat in front of me so I grabbed it. But when my friend went to grab one a few rows down, the usher promptly yelled at her and said they were the people in those seats and was very rude about it.

" the usher promptly yelled at her and said they were the people in those seats and was very rude about it."

Because they're sick of seeing people in a collecting frenzy grabbing every one in sight. I don't blame them.

I respectfully disagree about the staff for Richard III/Twelfth Night. I sat in the balcony for Richard, and one of the ushers completely flipped out on me when I was turning my phone off. She kept screaming, "No pictures! No pictures in tne theater! No pictures allowed!" I tried to show her the totally black "off" screen of my phone, saying, "it"s off! Look, I turned off my phone; I can't take pictures," but she just kept yelling. Luckily, she wasn't there the next day when I sat in the balcony for Twelfth Night, but I had other challenging usher experiences that day, too. I've heard such mixed reviews of the current staff, especially for the SRO line. I just hope I can get tickets after waiting from 1:00 in the rain. I'll report back when my bus gets in. Anyone joining me?

Really? The night I went (last weekend), I must've picked up at least 6 or 7 and my friend and I seemed to be the only ones who bothered.

You make it seem like this is the goal. I think they are supposed to be left where they are, so people in the orchestra can happen upon them as though they were left there from the night before. They're part of the show.

I mean, sure, take one for yourself, but... more than that seems off.

LizzieCurry, may I ask why you wanted so many? I've seen them on Ebay for as much as $50, so I'm wondering if you are going to be selling them.

eBay wasn't the plan. If it happens, it happens, but I usually take that many from any show I see. And no one stopped us.

AND IT WAS AFTER THE SHOW.

Well, then you don't get around here very much, do you.

Clyde, I hope you feel better about yourself after following me around on the board and making nasty comments!
