I purchased tickets for my daughter for her 21st birthday to see the matinee performance of Of Mice and Men. We have front row center seats and it probably goes without saying, but the big attraction for her is seeing James Franco. I didn't realize the Tony awards would be the same night back when I purchased the tickets. Is it likely there will be understudies that day? I'm wondering if the main actors will be getting ready for the awards instead.
VERY few miss performances that day. Of course, there is no way to be sure.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I've never been to a performance on Tony day, but I've heard great things about them. People who go regularly talk about how much energy the cast has as they're clearly pumped up for Tony night.
Also, while we won't know for sure until next week, nothing against Franco, but I highly doubt he'll receive a Tony nomination given how competitive that category is this year. So that shouldn't affect his attendance at the matinee at all.
We went to Pippin last year on Tony Day and the Whole cast was in the show. Not a single understudy. It was a great time. Went to 54 Below for their Tony Viewing Party after. You might want to check that out for after the show. 21 is a big Birthday!!! :)
