For the past month, I have been in rehearsals for a production of ...SPELLING BEE going up in Westchester County. I'm the Artistic Director of an independent non-profit theater troupe, and have assembled a great group of performers from all over the tri-state (and beyond), and we run this weekend only: April 25-27.

In not wanting to use the board as a soapbox, I figured I'd put it out there, and for anyone interested in attending, I figure you could reply or PM me. Really just looking to get the word out as tickets are (obviously) on-sale, and as all of us on here are theatergoing folk, I thought, "Why not share the good word with my BWW family?"

In reality, any and all support would be greatly appreciated.

Best always,
- M My ...SPELLING BEE

But it's in the library. That's why I decided not to go. Hope it's works out for you.

Break legs, Mike!

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I hope all goes well for you and your players, Mike. I attended a local production of SPELLING BEE and it was so difficult to get audience members to agree to be participants that the director had to ask one of the ushers to be a speller! Oy!

I only have issues with self promotion on BWW when the poster pretends not to be a part of the production and just happened to hear about some great show and how we should all run out and buy tickets. You, sir, did it correctly.

I agree with CATSNY. There is a big difference between a shill and a poster, especially one who's been around for a while and is actually a member of this little dysfunctional community, coming to openly promote a project they are currently involved with (provided that self-promotion doesn't cross the line into incessantly spamming the board). Have a great run!

Exactly. The theater-going community isn't very big. If we don't support one another, how can we expect to keep the art form going?

I'm 3,000 miles from Westchester County, but you have all my best wishes!
