Lippa Life Of The Party at the Chocolate Factory

A feast of Andrew Lippa songs will be served in The Life Of The Party at the Menier Chocolate Factory from May 27 to June 14. I love Lippa as a songwriter and his concert at the St James Theatre last November was one of the absolute highlights of my theatre-going in 2013 (seeing his BIG FISH on Broadway was one of the other highlights).

This time he'll be joined by the wonderful Caroline O'Connor, Summer Strallen and the brilliant Damian Humbley. I've already booked my front row seat for the final performance! Seriously excited about this!

I adore Andrew's music; the Big Fish score was absolutely incredible and he writes such diverse music, Big Fish, The Addams Family and The Wild Party couldn't all be more different. Shall definitely be seeing this!

I really like Lippa's music, but most of all I love and adore Caroline O'Connor. My question is though, what is this show? Will there be a plot or is it just essentially a concert with a sketchy plot a la Putting It Together?

I think it's a concert pure and simple - just a showcase of Lippa's songs by an amazing cast.

Lippa's score for Big Fish was praised in Chicago but trashed in NY and was unfairly blamed for the shows early closure. No idea why it did not catch on.

Our critics here are bone headed (& tone deaf) idiots .
