I saw Heathers the Musical at New World Stages on my trip to New York at the beginning of the month and absolutely loved it, as did my friend who hadn't seen the original movie. I really enjoyed the show and would personally love to see it in London. Can anyone see this show having a life this side of the ocean, perhaps at the Almeida for a limited run? A Musical Preview of "Heathers: The Musical"
I really loved it when I saw it, it's smart and funny and the cast are amazing! It's a little bit campier than the movie but I didn't find it too different.
I would really love to see this - so hoping it will still be running at the New World Stages when I get over to New York in the Fall. I'm a big fan of Larry O'Keefe (Bat Boy in particular was an amazing show.)
And I would certainly not decide to not see a show just because some random critic had slated it (or even if every critic slated it). A review is just an opinion, not a definitive statement on whether a show is any good or not.

They turned the dead gay son joke into a musical number Ha! Just from watching that clip, I would love for it to come across too. Although I didn't like the fact that Veronica seemed so emotional and excitable from that short preview, the songs do sound very catchy especially the Candy Store one. I'll be sure to get the cast recording as well, but it seems it won't get released until the summer. Heather's cast recording
The Cast recording is absolutely amazing and the show is even better. I hope it does come over. Its like the pre-Mean Girls, and i can imagine the mean Girls being like this all be not as dark obviously.
I agree with Mr. Roxy. I wanted to love this show but I hated it. "Amateurish" is a good way of putting it. "Irritating" is another. I just didn't find any of it funny. And I love the movie, hence the reason why I wanted to love it.
I saw this show in early April and loved it. The cast was fantastic and it was a very fun time. I met a number of other folks in the line at TKTS who had seen and liked the show. This would be a great show for one of the smaller venues or even the St James as their lack of overhead fly would not impair the presentation.
