I've avoided this subject because at first I thought there was something in the story I was missing.Turns out, I got everything right. This Rancher is nothing more than a thief and his supporters are ignorant fools. My question is why is this a political story? These Republicans supporting this thief are really making it difficult for themselves later. Fox news and Sean Hanity who are actually disappointed that there has been no violence are only fanning the flames.Throw this idiot in jail and make him pay!

Chris Hayes and Eric Boehlert have a pretty good view as to why it became a "political story".

Also, don't forget how these freedom fighters planned to use women as human shields.

But I thought they hated these free loaders and 'takers'. They put down those who feel they are "entitled" to things. This guy has taken something that does not belong to him. Other ranchers who do the same work he does pay the government for the use of their land. Why is this guy "special"?

To them, he's not taking. He's asserting his freedom and standing up to "rogue" federal agents. No mention of the fact that grazing fees were created by the executive order of their hero, Ronald Reagan.

Your problem is that you are trying to apply Rachel Maddow logic to a Sean Hannity story. Maddow logic is filtered through a lens of made up facts, propaganda and willful ignorance. Go learn the facts of the story and then come back and rethink it.

What am I missing Goth? You tell me. Educate me.Why does this man feel he has the right to something that is CLEARLY not his. What are the made up facts? Tell ya what, lets forget Rachel Maddow. Watch this and tell me where David Packman gets it wrong. What info is he telling me that is incorrect?

I am SO LUCKY to have Goth around to educate me in these matters.

romantico, I thought that link you posted was a satire. Is that guy for real? He gets all self-righteous about grazing fees that haven't been paid by one rancher? How many trillions of taxpayer dollars have been stolen by welfare fraud and illegals who aren't even supposed to be collecting welfare?

I realize that you love nothing more than for the government to come in and tell you exactly what to do. You won't be happy until the USA is like Communist Russia.

However, in Realityville, Mr. Bundy has the right to defend himself in a court of law. (I know, I know, only liberals have rights). In February 2014, Mr. Bundy lost a case in the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals, but he still has legal rights. Obviously since this case is unfolding in the Communist State of Nevada, Harry Reid is behind the scenes trying to screw as many people as he possibly can.

It's the law, Goth. I know tea party whack jobs think that's something to be negotiated, but it's not.

Borstalboy, if the government was in full compliance of the law the Bureau of Land Management wouldn't have been pulled back. Somebody in the Obama Administration woke up and said "Oh f-ck, we've messed up."

Or maybe Bill Clinton called up Obama and said "I f-cked it up with Waco, you might not want a pile of dead bodies and burning farm equipment on your hands seeing as how you have a Nobel Peace Prize."

Goth, your changing the subject. What did 'that guy' say that was false? Tell me.

How is paying for taxes like Communist Russia? Will you at least admit this land is not Bundys to claim? He did not purchase it nor does he own it. Tell me why he gets to use it and make money off it.Isn't this just as bad as welfare fraud and illegals?

Nevada is a communist state? Really? Well, it is a red state but do you really think it's a communist state? Explain that.

Oh, and PLEASE DON'T FORGET to tell me what David Pakman said that was untrue. You asked if he was for real and thought he was nothing more than satire. PLEASE tell me what he said that was false. You failed to do so in your last post so be sure to tell us what precisely it was that he got wrong.

"Will you at least admit this land is not Bundys to claim? He did not purchase it nor does he own it."

Tell that to the American Indians. Bundy's family has been grazing there since the 1870s. And that's part of having to untie the knot that is this problem. People in the old days (like Laura Ingalls Wilder's family) just took land out West and claimed it for themselves. So if the government is trying to change the arrangement, then Bundy can force the government to go back over 100 years and take back all the land that everyone else "stole." The issue is much bigger than just Bundy.

Goth, can you focus? We're not alking about American Indians or Illegals or those accused of welfare fraud. YOU MUST CHANGE THE SUBJECT IN ORDER TO HAVE ANY CONTROL.FOCUS!!!

So his family has been grazing there since the 1870's. So what?! The law changed.DO you know things have changed since 1870? The population has grown, cities and roads, the business of cattle herding and ranching has changed since 1870.It was more practical back then that it is today. Is that your argument? My grandmother paid 10 cents for a loaf of bread back in 1940. Today they want $2.49 for the same loaf. That's not fair so I'm taking the bread and giving the store only 10 cents.

You are using an outdated law that has been changed as your argument. Times have changed Goth. Are you really this ignorant? You really can not see the big picture here? You still have not answered what it is David Pakman said that was false. Since you are ignoring I assume he said nothing false or you would have pointed it out by now.

So, your claim that my facts were wrong is a lie. No surprise coming from you Goth.Back up what you are saying or shut up. You refuse to admit that Bundy does not own this land either.God, good thing you aren't a teacher!

Tea party whackjobs want the world to BE 1870.

And what do you think about the bit re: using women as a human shield?

"So his family has been grazing there since the 1870's. So what?! The law changed."

Which is one of the weapons that Bundy has in his favor. Why should the law be implemented against Bundy and not against the other families that made land grabs? Are you going to hunt down Laura Ingalls Wilder's family and make them give back their land because the law changed?

Why haven't other ranchers exercised their rights like Bundy then? Bundy should pay his back taxes (IMO with interest!)He's decided to take the law into his own hands.

Goth, exactly what did David Pakman say in the video that was false? Why won't/can't you answer? You said I hsad my facts wrong but so far it looks as if it is you who does not understand what's going on here.

I see what you are saying & it sounds like you feel the law should be different or rewritten. However,I disagree 100%. There is a difference in having a difference of opinion and then just lying/being wrong. What in the video I linked is wrong? He lists the facts,NOT HIS OPINIONS. What did he get wrong? I can quote the current law from the state of Nevada's web page to prove that what has been said is correct. You may not agree, but it IS THE LAW! Who are you and Bundy to decide which laws to obey and which laws to disobey? If you don't like the laws, vote for those lawmakers to take office and change the law. Or, just move to another country where you feel the laws are fair.

So,it sounds like you aren't saying what he mentions in the video is wrong, you just wish the law was different and it 'should be' this or that. Maybe in a perfect world Goth. I think I should pay lower property taxes. However, just because I disagree with how much I pay in taxes does not mean I get to make an offer and pay what I feel is a fair price.

Bundy is a criminal. He is a thief and he is breaking the law. He needs to be in jail and any of his idiotic supporters who get in the way need to go with him.

romantico, answer a question for me. Why did the Bureau of Land Management step back? If the government is right in this, then the BLM would have gone ahead and done its job.

They stepped back because armed militia had guns aimed at their heads. They did not want to see any violence. Are you really that small minded where you think because they left that Bundy and his supporters won? Can you really be that immature? That simple minded?

Do you really think this is over? These armed nut jobs would have killed anyone and everyone that day and the BLM prevented it from happening by leaving.

I answered your question but my questions are just too difficult for you to answer I suppose.

He's a rancher, historian, AND social philosopher (in addition to being a thief):

“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” he said. Mr. Bundy recalled driving past a public-housing project in North Las Vegas, “and in front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids — and there is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch — they didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for their young girls to do.

“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he asked. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”
