This is one of my favorite books but I'm not sure about the trailer. It doesn't give anything away (which it shouldn't) but it also makes it looks like any other humdrum missing wife movie.

Also this will be my first time seeing Tyler Perry in a movie and I'm not too happy about that.

Ugh, that cover of "She". Watching it without sound makes a world of difference. Couldn't care less about Affleck but kudos to Fincher if he gets a half-decent performance from him. I am here, however, for Rosamund Pike (and Carrie Coon).

I LOVED the book! Crazy ****!
The trailer... not so much.

Richard Butler singing She? Random... I expected a typical "twist" to the last few minutes of the trailer--but maybe they want to add that for future trailers. It looks... alright? I loved the book, and I think Fincher is well suited for it so I'll give it the benefit...

Okay, I am adding this book to the Kindle, but I have a general question. Does the mystery get solved? I don't know if I can handle an open ended book right now. lol
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

Is this just another of those PRESUMED INNOCENT type things -- he did it, then he didn't do it, then he did it, then he didn't do it and back and forth for two hours?

Doesn't look particularly interesting. That little shot of Affleck's smile fading into something Rather Sinister was a bit much, even for David Fincher.

It's just a trailer, and all that. We'll see.

From what I gather, it has a bit more literary merit than that. Salon.com was a big champion of the book and wrote a big article about how it was snubbed for the National Book Award because it was genre fiction.

Loved the book...and, frankly, I loved the trailer. It was marvelously off-putting in a way that doesn't give too much away.

I agree, Robbie. I haven't read the book, though I'm aware of its reputation, and I think we know enough of Fincher by now to know he doesn't paint by numbers. This trailer has me totally intrigued for all the things it's pretending to be.

We'll see, of course. I hope it's closer to ZODIAC and SOCIAL NETWORK than the unfortunate PANIC ROOM and BENJAMIN BUTTON.

PANIC ROOM has its moments. I refuse to watch BENJAMIN BUTTON because that CGI is so stomach-churning.

Growl, you MUST read the book. You simply must. Preferably after you watch DICK. Get on it, or I'm going to speak ill of you next time I hang with the A-Gays.

I liked the trailer, I have no idea what the book is about other than the very basic plot (and I really hope it can stay that way until I watch the film...I'm an English grad student so reading for pleasure is a thing of the past for me). It's atmospheric, and intriguing enough (especially since I do know it's more than what the plot seems to be about at first). Rosamund Pike's missing picture reminds me of Laura Palmer, very creepy and haunting. I like that Fincher went without a star for the female lead, it adds to the mystery. Carrie Coon was fantastic in WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF last year, can't wait to see her in this!

He's not a bad actor if you remove him from all the Madea stuff. I enjoyed his work in Alex Cross.

I think this is promising. This is going to be a complicated story to tell, and the trailer teased just enough to draw you in if you don't know the story, and makes you want MORE if you do know it.

To all that haven't read this...listen to the advice in this thread, get your hands on it now!

If you haven't read the book, I highly recommend it. It's an easy read too. You won't be able to put it down.

I thought the trailer was great. And growl hit the nail on the head. The story is much, much, much more than it seems to be at first.

I hate to say it, but he's a capable actor--unlike director, or writer...

2nd trailer out.

After having read the book, I'm not liking the trailer much. What made the book so fun was it's almost jocular, playful tone. Am I the only one who read the second half of the book as pure satire/black comedy?
