Well then, I can't wait to hear all the news as I couldn't be there during the last week. tell all:-
1. Were the changes for the DVD kept for the last performances?
2. How were the cast coming out after the last show?
3. Was the last matinee a hoot as is traditional in West End theatre?
4. were the last 2 performances sold out?
5. Anything else I would be happy to know?
FHTE, my favourite musical since Taboo, I love you.

I posted this on the WOS forums this morning

-------------------------------

I was there last night and it was sad to see what I think is actually a good show leave the West End. There was obviously a loud ovation at the end of each song. This was my second viewing of Eternity (having seen it on the opening week, not one of the preview performances), and there were some noticeable changes for me between the two.

Firstly, the overture, when was that added? It worked well, I was just a bit surprised when it kicked in at the start. Was that added for the filming?
The Warden's song 'Sure' had disappeared (unless I zoned out at that point). Was that also done for the recording, or was it removed a while back?
The opening scene between Lorene and Karen omitted the line where Lorene told Karen her fiancee was dead.

There were probably other little changes that I missed.

At the stage door after the show Darius told people that Tim is trying to get the show on Broadway (where I think it would work better as it is an American themed show), and that he had been asked about going over with it if it gets there.

Robert Lonsdale also told us that the cast recording would be released in a couple of months along with the filmed performance they did last week, so they are obviously just ripping the tracks from that, which is fine for me as I feel live recordings give more emotion.

Another Robert note, look out for him in The Interceptor on BBC at some point soon. He said he has no plans at the moment to record an album or anything, but if he does it will be at least 12 months away while he focuses on his acting.

On a small note, Ryan Sampson is probably the nicest person I've ever met. I hope this is not the last we see of him on a West End stage, because his portrayal of Maggio was flawless both times I saw the show.

A Hui Hou Eternity

----------------------------

I don't know how many changes were added for the live filming, but if you know of them them and post them here I can you if they were around for the final show.

The whole cast coming out at the end were all fine to my eyes. Very talkative and thankful to the fans outside for coming to see the show.

I don't know if the matinee was sold out, or if there were any fun and games played during it. The final show was pretty packed in the stalls and what I could see of the dress circle. I didn't get a good look at the upper circle to judge that one, but I'd like to think that it was all pretty packed for the show.

I was there last night, the new overture was there I noticed a couple of dialogue changes too but it has changed each of the 3 times I saw it so hard to tell when they were added. I was up in the upper circle and it definitely wasn't sold out, central block was pretty full but not many in the sides.
It was a very special night, the roars and applause after G Company Blues told me it was going to be. I'm sure the cast got energy from the massive applause after the songs. Lovely speech from Tim Rice at the end, a little surprised he didn't mention the recording and filming.
I hope the show has a future, I'm sure they could tour it but would probably shrink the cast. I think it was great seeing it from the upper circle too as the big numbers using the beds were easier to take in.

Tim Rice on Sky Arts Elaine Paige's show said it was a big mistake to open cold in the West End and should of had an out of town try out.

This is awful. I have been waiting for this and I cannot go that day. Surely there must be another opportunity to see it.

One showing only does seem silly for these things. I saw The Curious Incident of the Dog in the night time advertised for one night and I couldn't make it! (Albeit the poster said Encore so I guess I missed it twice!)

I hope it gets other showings

Stuart Brayson has said that encore shows are a possibility but will depend on sales. Movie was filmed for the American rather than UK market.

Is there news of where this will be playing in the US?

Curious has another encore performance in an autism friendly screening coming up shortly, if you don't mind the lights being up and a possibly noisier audience.

Weirdly I read this post Friday and then on Saturday 30th a small local venue (am dram, poetry readings, cinema nights, etc.... were showing Curious... .Excellent, and the same cast I had seen previously (and I didn't have to catch a train to London to see it).

It's on the UK iTunes store, I downloaded a couple of tunes but is it only me or is there no title track? Wasn't there a song called From Here to Eternity? I couldn't find it.

The title song was excluded from the cast cd & the filmed version. Its been reworked a few times since previews, it was there when recorded but hasn't made the cut.

It's a bit strange.

Strange..Isn't that the song that has the famous scene where they make out on the beach? And yet they've cut it?

I was there on the Monday of the recording and have since had friends see the cinema release. More than America is the scene in which they make out on the beach which ends and 1. The song from here to eternity used to end act 1 but the creative team didn't feel that it was in the right place hence why more than America ended act 1. Warden used to have a song called sure that came after another language but was cut during previews. I saw the show 5 times and every time was different. A lot has been excluded from the cast recording and the screenings which is a disappointed but I agree I feel the title don't should have been included. I'll be honest I feel the 6th time I see the show in the cinema on August 9th at my local cinema I feel I'm going to be fairly disappointed.

Sure made it through previews (I saw it about a week after opening).
I liked the cinema version overall but there were too many edits in my opinion. I didn't notice the title song was missing specifically but I thought something was off. I did miss Magio's line "Hey Judson, bloom and Galovic F*** You, and if there is a God then F*** Him too" It showed a lot more anger than the replacement line, his other lines from the song were missing too.
I don't know if it was just my cinema but there were quite a few digital artifacts (glitches), especially in the start with the moving text but also the blinds.
There were only 15 people in my cinema so I guess further showings are unlikely. I hope they put the deleted scenes on the DVD.

For anyone who saw the broadcast, is the make out scene on the beach really cut? I can't imagine they would cut the most iconic scene would they? It's just the title song that's gone?

As Musical Matt says, the title song isn't the song where they're on the beach - that's More Than America, the Act 1 closer, which is still there.

Thanks sounds great, I hadn't twigged the CD would be live. And I'd forgotten what a cracking musical score this is.

Why don't you go? Why don't you leave Manderley? He doesn't need you... he's got his memories. He doesn't love you, he wants to be alone again with her. You've nothing to stay for. You've nothing to live for really, have you?
