Absolutely bizarre how the previous thread got deleted.

Anyhooo, Dlisted gives us the hilarious rundown
"It's now rather very common to hear people say 'I'm rather offended by that'. As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more than a whine. It has no meaning, no purpose. It has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that'. Well, so f**king what?"--Stephen Fry

I don't know these people at all, but after spending less than half a day with them in my peripheral thoughts, they strike me as the gay Kardashian housewives of Honey Boo-Boo-Land.

That's all the time I think I want to spend with them even if I'm wrong.

I get perverse excitement over a high-profile gay divorce. Pioneering!

Jonny Weir is like some gay male Sarah Palin -- he outlived his usefulness a while back, and he just won't go the hell away.

Well, there's one big difference. Weir is immensely talented in his profession.

He is a wee bit strange.... WEIR (without the D).
To each their own but he must seriously need love. He goes to such lengths to be noticed.

Yes, he is incredibly talented but is it necessary to have a candle burning SO bright that it is brighter than the sun? Instead of coming off as talented he makes himself appear like a clown. His wardrobe is more costume than fashion.

I only pointed out his talent in response to the comparison of him to Sarah Palin. He's talented, she isn't.

Careful of saying anything negative about Johnny Weir.

How many of us have a negative reaction to him because of our homophobia? I know I do, but it's hard to separate that from the fact that he seems to be something of an idiot.
It's a little creepy but it would be worse if you knew what you were talking about.

Did anyone else click on this thread only because they thought there might be news of a great new production of THE WEIR?

"He's talented, she isn't."

Yeah, point taken, I guess. My irritation with his relentless self-promotion and that smug self-satisfaction he always projects has outweighed whatever respect I might have had for anything else about him.

Pal... thanks for the warning. LOL
I really don't care. I am not saying anything that isn't obvious, that isn't known or what I would say to his face.

He is weird like Madonna, weird like Lady Gaga. He thrives on being loud in all ways possible - and I don't mean audible loud. He is known for being an attention whore - good for him. It is his schtick.

He reminds me a lot of Lady Gaga. Both of them are talented but both speak in this odd tone I feel they think sounds "artistic." To me it can come off as condescending or insecure rather than intelligent and aloof. It reminds me of a new Locust Valley Lockjaw except it's completely contrived by them. None of their family or friends talk that way.

And he patronized a country that condones violence against his people. There's that.

Borstal I don't know if that's fair at all. All of Russians are not horrible people (including his husband) and our own country does some stupid crap. It's 2014 and an Arizonian governor had to decide if it was ok for me to get coffee because I like d*ck.

I'd much rather chide his ear biting and his pretentiousness rather than his breadline.

I've followed Johnny's skating since he started. I admire his talent, but whoever his friend is here on the board, for goodness sakes, tell him his skating costumes are FUGLY. He needs a style course.

Jane...come on. Give Johnny credit for being willing to wear a costume made out of all the unused scraps left over after all the other skater costumes were made.

I liked him when he first came on the scene and I was all, "Be who you are girl," until it turned who he are is someone is pretty not bright and kind of an asshole.

I could not really give two $hits about these people other than for a giggle, but for some reason I clicked on that damn link. This line pissed me off:

(Victor...) has enrolled in battered women’s classes in hopes of regaining his emotional footing after his marriage to Johnny. (In case you’re wondering, he’s taking battered women’s classes because battered men’s classes don’t exist.)

This is meant to make a joke about his sexuality and/or femininity and it's incredibly insensitive and offensive. The idea that a man can't be a battered spouse is ludicrous. I am not saying Victor was abused, but some men are. Gay men, straight men, bisexual men... it doesn't matter how the relationship looks from the outside. Grrrrr.
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!
