Audition song for Thespian scholarship

I am auditioning for a scholarship next weekend at the Florida State Thespian Festival, and I really want to do "Who I'd Be" from Shrek.(The last part of the song before Fiona and Donkey come in, you only get a minute and a half to do a song and monologue). Is this a good song to do for a scholarship audition? My friend said no because he thinks in order to do the song, you have to do the Shrek accent no matter what, and I think it's fine to do it without an accent within the context i'm doing it in.
