CBS joins the list of networks who insist Matthew Perry will happen and so they have ordered a pilot for him. And it's The Fricking Odd Couple and he's Oscar.

It won't go to series, of course, but good lord.
It's a little creepy but it would be worse if you knew what you were talking about.

It would be much more fun if he were starring in a reboot of The Black Odd Couple. Or or or if they combined The Odd Couple and The Female Odd Couple. Besides the fact that it has been proven again and again that nobody wants to watch Matthew Perry in a sitcom, everything about him is so fussy it seems strange that they wouldn't make him Felix. Or Florence.
It's a little creepy but it would be worse if you knew what you were talking about.

Well, let's face it, if you were one of the tens of millions of people who regularly watched Friends, you're to blame.

Not after the third season or so. I didn't care if they would or wouldn't.

That "you" wasn't in reference to you Namo, but to all of us. We're all to blame.

Include me out, sister.

Every show he has done since has flopped. Why do they keep trying to make him happen? The Odd Couple has got to be the absolute barrel bottom. (God, I hope that's not his nickname in his sex life.)

I don't get it either, Namo. If this were 10 years ago, I'd get why they were still trying to flog that horse, but surely it's time to move on.

Let's see - on TV we've had The Odd Couple, the TV movie sequel (Oscar & Felix's kids get married), the "New" Odd Couple (African-American), My Two Dads (Odd Couple with a teenaged daughter), Two and a Half Men (Odd Couple with a son)...

Aren't The Sunshine Boys and the Grumpy Old Men movies just Geriatric Odd Couple?

On stage we've had The original, the female version... what's next - The Musical?

I've never liked him, and still can't figure out why the networks are trying to force feed him and his failed sitcoms on the general public.

I quite liked Go On and thought it was a shame it was axed. He feels like he needs to be in Episodes with Matt LaBlanc about his career struggling after friends (love Episodes)

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Sometimes networks really like and root for certain actors. Perry must be easy to work with and a pro. Thats what gets you recurring deals. Look at how badly NBC wants Benanti and Hilty to be in a hit. Because they are awesome to work with and the network loves them.

Speaking of Matthew Perry, I was watching a re-airing of a Jeopardy episode and "Matthew Perry" was an actual category. The actor in particular was the subject of two of the clues.

I thinks he's one of those actors who is perfectly suited to TV sitcoms. He has that easy going slightly cynical presence that can handle the mostly narrow sitcom writing style to a T.

The problem isn't Perry, it's the shows, the timeslots and all kinds of other variables. In the right show on the right night he could have a big hit.

I also think it's true of people like Benanti and Sean Hayes.

Judy Greer has been on several failed sitcoms but she that TV IT thing. Talent to burn. If she got the right property she could have an MTM kind of success. Instead she's currently doing guest spots and commercials.
