Hey all so I know Annie Potts just started off in Pippin but what about the other principle cast (Patina, Rachel, Charlotte, Terrence, Matthew) I am sure we would have heard by now being that we are close to a month a way from the show being on broadway for a year. also a lot of the acrobatics is probably hard to learn. will Patina extend cause she won the tony?
Interested to know this as well, as I'm seeing it in early March. My understanding is that none of this info is public yet, but we should find out soon.
Sure. The "annoying and money-making producers" who produced this Tony winning revival and have so far put in nothing but phenomenal performers like Christopher Sieber, Tovah Feldshuh, and Annie Potts.
Nicole Scherzinger was a false report, but she would be wonderful.
I would LOVE to see what Naya Rivera could do in the role, since her work with Ryan Murphy has hinted at her talent without really letting it out to shine. (Do you think they will EXCLUSIVELY look to non-white female actors for the role, or can it be cast any way? Pink would be an interesting Leading Player if they don't stick to people of color- she is pretty well-versed in the kind of aerial stunts the Leading Player does.)
Here's my wish list for replacements: Pippin- Johnathan Groff Charles- Norbert Leo Butz/Robert Cuccioli Fastrada- Rachelle Rak Catherine- Laura Benanti Leading Player- Pink/Raul Esparza Berthe- Jan Maxwell
Neuwirth can't play Berthe for the same reason she can't play Fastrada-too much of a risk with the hip.
I think Robert Cuccioli as Charles would be great Jonathan Groff seems like he might be a little mature to play Pippin-I think part of the character's charm should be his innocence Berthe has been played by the 60+ crowd thus far, I'm guessing they're trying to keep it that way (in my heart of hearts I'd love to see Bernadette do it) Rachelle Rak as Fastrada=brilliant Leading Player-no clue (wish Scherzinger had turned out to be true because I think she'd be pretty amazing) Catherine-A former Glinda (someone on the 'older end' of the spectrum given what they've done with the production would be most appropriate)
OR-how about Kacie Sheik as Catherine?? She's very funny and I could see it working.
I could honestly see either Kacie or Jane as a possible replacement, if and when Rachel decides to leave. Annaleigh isn't talented enough to play Catherine, and I doubt she would take a replacement role at this point in her career.
