NEW YORK THEATRE INTENSIVES ANNOUNCES SUMMER CONSERVATORY DATES June 22 – August 2, 2014

New York Theatre Intensives in association with the artists of the Ensemble Studio Theatre announces the fourth Summer Conservatory program to take place in the Broadway theatre district, June 22- August 2, 2014. Full information is available at www.nytheatreintensives.org.

NYTI/SUMMER CONSERVATORY is a 6 week intensive that focuses on the development of new plays and the collaborative process. Theatre artists, college age and older, come to NYC to work cross genre as actors, writers and directors. Instructors and guest artists come from the ranks of the Ensemble Studio Theatre, the oldest new play development organization in NYC. Students offer three public presentations at EST and see their work published in the NYTI COLLECTIVE series available on Amazon. com as well as attend numerous readings of works in progress across the city.

Led by Producing Artistic Director, Susan Merson ( www.susanmerson.com) faculty also includes Elizabeth Hess ( NYU) and Jose Angel Santana ( NYU/SVA). Visits to leading developmental theatre organizations in New York including the Lark New Play Development Center, New Dramatists, the Public Theatre and ongoing developmental theatres. Seminar guests have included Pulitzer Prize winners Donald Margulies, David Auburn, NEWSIES creators, Bob Tzudiker and Noni White, Tony Award winning designer John Arnone and director Jerry Zaks and veteran actors Lois Smith, Obie winner Caridad Svich and many others. This year we are exploring a partnership with Golden Thread Productions a theatre focusing on the work coming out of the Middle East.
We welcome mid career educators and artists who want to focus more deeply on their work and international artists eager to come to the US and connect with the NY new play development theatre scene.
