Stumbled across these pictures of what appears to be a set model for Bullets Over Broadway. Looks pretty damn awesome.

Looks like the warehouse/factory from "Kinky Boots."

^ How wrong you are-- the KB set was just one idea with no attempt at an emotional goosebumps aura. This one has ghosts and spacial complexity and a sense of being a hundred places at once. And that's the difference between a Santo Loquasto set and a David Rockwell one for me. Would that Santo had designed the last revival of Follies...

Reminds me of the set from Follies.

Y'all I don't think those are ghosts, I think those are gray scale sizing mock-ups of actors... pretty sure.

I'm talking about the bas reliefs that flank the proscenium left and right-- shadows of a forgotten time that give you a ghostly feel for the period.

The exposed inner proscenium, arches and columns coupled with the side pieces remind me of the original Ragtime set, which was modeled on the old Penn Station.

Kinda like Follies meets Urinetown - another multipurpose single set

How do we know its a "single set"? It does look like a unit set, but there could be multiple add on pieces that dramatically transform the stage. I wish I remembered the movie more and the possible locations the action takes place at

I think the set will transform significantly for the show-within-a-show scenes.

I wonder if David Shane's new work will be a musical rather than a play?

ARTc3,
The term for what you talking about would be "a unit set with phases"... ie, a single set that does transform a bit from scene to scene,

Kind of off topic.... but here is an interpretation. Some adaptation in Russia. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbLLMZgpmS0

That set design has the potential for blocking sightlines!

No concept at all of how to do curtain calls. I really had enough of the male dancer by the end of this mess.

Is that the same version? So it's not a world premiere?

Add about 10 more feet of height to that back wall and add a bunch more posters and hang and 1989 Oldsmobile from the grid then you can invite Green Day back to play .

Here's another pic. It's not the main focus but you can get a good look at it. Looks great!

All that iron rigging reminds me of the set for the original "Ragtime."

Marin should feel right at home!
