What were the most magical moments for you?
I put together some of mine -- Kristine Nielsen's telephone call in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike; Valisia LeKae bringing the audience up to sing "Reach Out and Touch" with her in Motown; the opening moments in Julie Taymor's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Hey, 2013 just ended yesterday. Surely you still remember some magic moments of theater -- even if you're hung over!

Audra McDonald's entire concert at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Sometimes you see a performer just at their peak and it's utterly glorious. Audra had the audience in the palm of her hand the entire evening. (A second Audra moment -- the mic drop at the end of the Tony's.)

Laura's entrance in Glass Menagerie. (I won't spoil it, but it did a remarkable job conveying that it is a memory play.)

Neil Patrick Harris' Tony's opening number.

The instant the curtain drops in Magic to Do in Pippin.

From the world of opera -- Sandra Radvanovsky's Vissi d'arte in Act 2 of Tosca at the LA Opera. Utterly brilliant in both singing and acting. Her Casta Diva in Norma at the Met also was brilliant and sounded otherworldly.

The Glass Menagerie- Laura's entrance as previously discussed. It was stunning.

Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812- I saw this in August, but I remember this part so vividly. As Pierre is singing he says something along the lines of "She looked like a young girl as she was crying..." (Something or other). But, the lighting during that moment and the look Phillipa and David shared sent chills up my spine. The ambiance and lighting of the entire show would fit under this category.

I cannot wait for this next year in theatre!
Next stop: Twelfth Night tomorrow!

On the Right Track in PIPPIN. The final moments in PIPPIN. When I Grow Up and Laurie Metcalf onstage when the doors open for The Other Place.

On Broadway, several scenes in THE GLASS MENAGERIE (the Gentleman Caller scene is breathtaking); off-Broadway, pretty much all of FUN HOME; elsewhere, the Barrington Stage production of ON THE TOWN (a brilliant reimagining of a show that has never had a good revival), and the coming-to Broadway BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY (glorious score, and gloriously sung by Steven Pasquale and Elena Shadow; I know role was written for Kelli, but Elena has been robbed, no one could do it better).

I agree that Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 is splendid. I just couldn't think of a specific magical moment. The ending attempts to be so,but I thought it was probably the weakest part of the show.

Like someone above said, the opening number for the Tonys this year. And I'd add Laura Osnes's onstage dress transformation from the Cinderella Tony performance too. A simplistic concept that was still magical.

Opening number for the Tony's for sure...and yes Cinderella's costume transformations.

But I am also thinking Kristen Chenoweth and audience member Sarah Horn at the Hollywood Bowl singing For Good. No matter how many times I hear that, I get chills.

One of mine is very specific to me and the way my brain works: When the family members are first introduced in Fun Home, I though, "That youngest kid looks just like the first Chris [Jeremy Gelbwaks] on 'The Partridge Family'." I will not reveal what happened later that was so magical.
"Colbert is toast after this latest flap." -- Mr Roxy "Read 'Atlas Shrugged'." -- Gothampc
