Without a doubt, I'm sure she'll be a future Glinda.

Are you her mom or her agent?

Her voice is better suite for Elphaba not Glinda.

Psh, I wish I was her mom.

Also, I don't mean Wicked is anywhere in her future. I was just saying I think she'll play Glinda at one point in her career. She's still young, she has a while.

@Broadwaystar2 - Yes, she has an incredible belt, but overall, vocally and physically, she fits Glinda better.

She should play Cady or Gretchen in "Mean Girls" when it comes to Broadway!

She's 20. Mandy Moore was offered to replace Kristin Chenoweth in the show when she was exactly 20-years-old.

If at all, I would imagine she wouldn't come back to Broadway for another few years. She's still very new and fresh to the media and with her sophmore album coming out in February, she's got a ways to go until Broadway.

"Vocal Range:4 Octaves and a semitone Eb3-E7
Whistle Register:Yes
Vocal Pluses: Agile voice that carries very little weight with it and is resonant and well supported all throughout the vocal registers. With great technique Ariana Grande is capable of singing all the way down to a Eb3 with ease, exhibiting a smoky vocal texture. The voice begins to showcase more power and character however in the upper belting and head voice registers where it finds its "ring". Ariana Grande’s chest voice is elastic and mixes well almost never exhibiting strain or fatigue. The head voice is connected, light, resonant, and easily accessed- being able to seamlessly blend into a head note from chest voice. Vocal Negatives: Chest notes, although executed with great technique, lack the resonance that the rest of the voice shines with. The whistle register has not been used live- which may indicate a lack of control with the register."

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

But that doesn't mean that she's a soprano. What is her tessitura and where is her passaggio, for instance? Just because you can sing those notes doesn't mean you're comfortable up there. IMO, Ariana Grande strikes me far more as an Elphaba than as a Glinda.

Also, I watched those videos and her high notes are pretty but they don't have any real "color" to them. It sounds like she's using her whistle register for them instead of her head voice.
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

@PlayItAgain - Yes, she was on Broadway before. But, it was before her television/music career.

@MrMidWest - That article is wrong when it comes to the whistle register. It has been used live numerous times. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CO3uzgzHJkE). However, it's not the strongest part of her voice, and as proved on the Today Show, she can't always control it. But, since the Way, it has gotten much stronger.

I would guess that when Grande, who is a fairly recognizable television star and a rising recording artist, returns to Broadway, it will not be in Wicked, which runs a "cogs in the machine" method of not using stars and shuffling performers around. She will be in something more high profile and prestigious, unless she wants to take the stage role either out of love for it or because of a filming or being considered for the movie version.

All I know about her is that my little sister adores her and that my obviously gay friend keeps claiming to be attracted to her.
I leave the room smiling.

THis is one of the girls from Victorious, yes? (I had no idea she was "big". Oy.)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I remember her in 13. She didn't have a large role, but got to wail on the verses of Brand New You. I liked her then, and find some of her current music catchy.
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco. Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!

She's actually very "retro." Her debut album is a throwback to Mariah Carey. All the way.

This is about a year and a few months old, but it's worth a look

I find her whistles to be stronger than Mariah's in this song.
